I recently went in to enquire about booking this venue for a big 60th birthday party as I thought the interior etc was lovely and I wanted some accommodation for my guests too. However, I was absolutely flabbergasted at how rude the manager was to me and so there is no way I would ever go near this place again... More

The room was comfortable and clean however was not en-suite. At £65 per night room only this is expensive. The shared toilet didn't flush very well and the water pressure in the shower was very poor making it almost unusable. Full breakfast was an additional £10 and was alright (except that the black pudding managed to taste of absolutely nothing).... More

Nice hotel/pub/restaurant. Very small selection on menu. Very small helpings - don't go if you're hungry! Nobody else eating on a Thursday evening, so had the large eating area to ourselves. Atmosphere could have been good had it been busy. Menu needs to be larger and less pricey - maybe locals are voting with their feet, as there are other... More

We stayed at this hotel at the tail-end of the summer, and I have to say that whilst in quite a charming location, the place was a let-down. After a long drive we tried to check-in at the reception mid afternoon. We waited for 10 minutes and nobody arrived. We then popped our head round the bar and the young... More

After staying here for many years I have been disgused by the total lack of any customer service - even for a long staying resident. Stayed in room 205 - have been offered this before by management and havent paid any more. Last week - was offered this room and was charge £20 extra for it - dispite not being... More

I've stayed at the Black Lion many times on my visits back to the UK, most recently for four nights at the beginning of July 2011, and have never found it to be anything other than absolutely charming. It's true the bathrooms could do with some updating for cosmetic reasons (especially the teeny tiny towels!) and the rooms don't have... More

Stayed 2 nights at this overpriced, dirty hotel for a wedding at a hotel further up the road. Small is not the word for the rooms and thye dust on the suit bag my husband placed on top the very small single wardrobe was disgusting, thick old dust. We werent offered en suite much to my disgust and the bathroom... More

Lovely wooden beamed hotel with nice contemporary bar and dining room. Room was small but very clean and bathroom was clean but could do with a facelift. Breakfast was very nice but at £10 it should be. Setting is lovely, quiet but only 10 mins walk from town centre. Only drawback was that we were not issued with the electronic... More

We stayed at the Black Lion Inn some years ago and returned to find that the ground floor has been given a refit. No longer does it look like an ancient coaching inn (which is what it is), instead it has been modernised to make it 'trendy'. The location of this inn is second-to-none being right in St. Michaels village... More
