Stayed here for a week it was a ok! hotel. welcome was nice and plentiful. Breakfast was descent. the furniture was a little dated. Nice selection of coffee, hot chocolate and tea in our room. Cleaner did come in every morning.

The title says it all. For tourists (we were), this is REALLY far from the harbour, rail station and downtown Portsmouth.
The breakfast was far below the average B&B breakfast.
Service was good.
Our room was very very large and spotless.

We stayed 1 night but as with the above, found the noise from the main road a nuisance. We would also have appreciated another en-suite room and cannot understand why the massive family room my sister occupied on her own was not ensuite.
The breakfast was good as well but will look for somewhere quieter next time

I have visited the Portsmouth uni early this year (2008) and have been suggested to stay at the Ferrymen while looking for a house. It as been too short a stay. Very clean and spacious room, shared bathroom but huge, with both an american shower and a bathtub, all VERY clean. No noise in my experience, probably the other reporter...

This is an interesting Art Deco building run by a nice man who seems to be trying really hard to make a successful business. He was very helpful and welcoming and the rooms clean and well decorated.
