Best word to sum up our stay is quite simply, charming. Even with running two businesses and having a small child, we're fortunate enough to have the wherewithal to travel frequently so are always looking for an opportunity for a relaxing short break in between work and our next holiday! Came across the Queens after a last minute decision to... More

We were warmly welcomed by Nick on arrival, and shown to our room - The African Queen, complete with leopard skin spots and African artefacts! The room was warm, the bed comfortable and obviously newly refurbished, and we loved the adjoining bathroom, which was nearly as big as the bedroom, with black and white decor, claw footed tub and enough... We stayed at The Queens with a group of friends for new years eve. We were one of the first to arrive and enjoyed a drink and lunch by the open fire in the bar area of the pub, lunch for both of us including drinks and a tip £22, and the quality was good. After lunch we were shown... More

A friend recommended the Queen's to me and we stayed there last night and were really impressed. Our room (Queen Victoria) must have been recently refurbished as looked great. We were also looked after like royalty (!). Had dinner too and was very high quality and reasonable value considering. Will be sure to head back again as one of the... More

From the moment we walked through the door of this excellent eaterie and discovered the present owners and staff have transformed a run of the mill country pub into a welcoming venue with their eye for detail and a truly first class dining experience. I cannot rate this restaurant to highly and will certainly be returning to enjoy all its... More

The two course set lunch looked good on the menu but was very ordinary, lacking in flavour and much too expensive for what it was. There were no vegetables (salad with everything) and the coffee which we suspect came out of a machine (a choice of black or white) wasn't even hot.The House Wine came in at £18 a bottle... More

We visited friends in Selborne this weekend and our host and hostess treated us to a meal here on Saturday night. It was fantastic. It has been a very very long time since any pub, restaurant or hotel wowed me like this one did. The hosting and service knocked spots of most places I've been to this year, the decor... More

Myself and an old friend revisited the Queens after an interval of about eight years. First impressions were along the lines of Oh No Not Another Old Pub Ruined. It has had a "major refurbishment" which to us robbed it of pretty much all its charm. I do wish it had been left exactly as it had been, but I... More
