For a hotel that offered such luxurious promise we were horribly disappointed. We arrived to find that the twin room we had booked was a double, this was eventually corrected after 2 requests. We then went for afternoon tea, which was nothing short of shocking...the tarts had rotten fruit on, the sandwiches were on nasty dried up bread and the... More

The exterior is typical Cheltenham, a beautiful Regency-era building that has been carefully updated. Inside the atmosphere is a blend of modern and period styles. On the whole, Emmy and I found it a successful and well executed design. Reception, as others have noted, is not as clear and unobtrusive as it might be. The welcome, though, was warm and... More

A good lesson in how not to run a hotel, there is no reception, so one feels instantly awkward on arrival, I asked a fellow guest and they laughed and and pointed at a bit of wood and said that's it. I approached found some staff loitering in a cubby hole. All very odd and and a first impression sticks.... More

This hotel was very handy for visiting relations in the town and is quite close to The Promenade. The interiors are clearly revamped from an older arrangement with quite trendy modern finishes- not so good for the traditionalist but a very good business hotel. Car parking on the site was not as ample as expected and I ended up on... More

Stayed here for one night in May. The Montpellier Chapter is a grand old building that has been done up exceptionally well. Check-in was very swift (there's no check-in desk as such, the staff greet you and do the necessary paperwork from a laptop). Our room was a Superior - it was on the small-side, but it was beautifully furnished.... More

A wonderful contemporary hotel set in the heart of Cheltenham. I loved everything about the place but I particularly loved the decor, the comfy beds, the nespresso machines and the i-pods in the rooms, and the complimentary mini bar was a lovely touch. Breakfast was great, service was superb and I thought the absence of a check in desk in... More

We chose this hotel to enjoy a break after a weekend of of babysitting our 2 year old grandaughter, which qualifies as a well-earned break, lovely though she is. We had previously stayed at the sister hotel, Magdalen Chapter in Exeter, so knew to expect a good hotel with contemporary twists. We were not disappointed. The staff are young, enthusiastic... More

Stayed here in April for 1 night in business. It is a beautiful little hotel in a beautiful little English town. The reception area is very nice, and the staff are lovely. The beds are really comfy and the bathroom is like a mini spa. The showers are amazing. We didn't eat in the restaurant but did enjoy some cocktails... More

We were here as a hen weekend.. The staff were very patient and good fun in putting up with the various hen antics. Cocktail making in the stylish wine cellar was brilliant fun. Food in private dining room was delicious no complaints at all. Friendly fun young staff. Beautiful building but contemporary interior again nothing bad to say about that.

Great weekend stay! Hotel is very modern in terms of outfitting, but classic and chic in terms of its decor. There is no 'reception' per say - you arrive and someone gently approaches you to ask how they can help (there is a very high bar, restaurant and lounge area which I think alot of the locals use on the...
