Very good for the price. Clean room, comfortable bed, decent shower, good breakfast, friendly and helpful owner. Best budget option in Plymouth that I've come across. Not luxury but go somewhere more expensive if that's what you want!

The place was cold, uncomfortable and not particularly clean. The decor extremely tired. The old man who owns the place rather sullen and generally unhelpful, but breakfast ok if you like it cooked in a cloud of cigarette smoke & ash.
The B&B itself smells old and musty. The bed was uncomfortable, the pillows beyond tired. The sheets were clean but the same can't be said of the rest of the bedding and upholstery. The bathroom was damp and mouldy. The shower was either too hot or too cold, the toilet flushed intermittently. The breakfast is basic full English but the...

Have just returned from 2 nights stay at Hotel Royal. We were there for my daughter's graduation. We had a bay fronted large ensuite room with TV & kettle and another single and double room- all ensuite, for the rest of the family including 2 small boys aged 2 and 1.
We had a free car parking space at the...

I stayed here for 2 nights with my girlfriend and her family and found the stay to be an overall decent one.
Location-wise you'd do well to beat it. It's right on the doorstep of Plymouth Hoe and about a 10-15 minute walk to the Barbican and the City Centre. Everything major is do-able within walking distance, if you don't...

I stayed here for two nights. Originally was meant to be just one, but I came to Plymouth to visit the lido and devils point tidal pool. Had good stay first night and really good value for money so stayed another. Location fantastic.
I booked a room there via laterooms.com and paid £35 so I didn't expect much to start with. The room was quite basic and wasn't ensuite, but for the price I paid I didn't expect much. The hotel owner/manager was quite friendly and helpful. During breakfast the next morning I realised that at least in theory he would have offered...

I just needed a single en-suite room, basic accommodation for a couple of days. This place exceeded my expectations, considering the price asked per room per night. The owner Hugh was friendly and helpful, the breakfast was lovely and everything very clean, not to mention a very good location. I would definitely stay there again.
A simple, straightforward old-style seaside guest house fun by real, helpful, people rather than corporate smiles :-) I paid £25 for a single non-en-suite room, which is about the same as the cost of a private room in a hostel, but unlike a hostel I had a TV in the room, breakfast included, etc.. The room was small, but clean...
