I read the reviews on the Countryman before booking and looked at their website... all looked and sounded great but I'd have to confess to being a little disappointed. The rooms are fine, although the combination of rustic 'washroom sign' in the bedroom, African painting and 'feature wall' was a little bizarre. The rooms has pretty much everything you'd want... My son and i stayed in the family suite at the end of August for two nights. While the exterior suggests it needs updating inside is a complete revelation. The room was, clean and decorated in a modern , very tasteful way. We had an ensuite room with a double bed and two singles , a huge TV with a... More

Not too far from St.Ives, and in a quiet part of the world too. Situated next to a road, but thankfully not a busy one, you don't hear it. Ok, let's go..........Breakfast is a definite five star affair, it's as big as you want it to be.....a truly sumptuos selection. I HIGHLY recommend the full english, we didn't bother with... More

What a lovely gem we found. Hotel is in a lovely location. Staff very friendly and rooms beautifully decorated. The lounge downstairs is a lovely place to relax and have drink. Very comfortable sofas - must be lovely in colder months with the log fire going. We travelled with our Australian relatives and they loved the charm of the hotel.... More

what a gem and what a find. The Countryman is run by Michael and his team who are really helpful and friendly, a real warm welcome and super helpful people made our stay really enjoyable. The family atmosphere makes you feel like you're at home. The room we had (room3) was huge, a large double with a separate room (through... More

A warm & friendly welcome. Disappointed with the cleanliness of the room. Definitely need new carpets throughout! Breakfast area is nice as was the breakfast. Nice distance from St Ives as you're away from the crowds but easy to get to. Had a lovely meal at the Balnoon Inn just up the road but didn't enjoy the meal at the... More

After a busy few months this break away was just what we needed to wind down and refresh. In a beautiful location out of the way of the hustle and bustle we found this hotel, we had a lovely spacious room. Even with our particular requests nothing seemed like too much trouble for the staff. And on our last night... More

Didn't get the breakfast yet! Think the owner was doing everything himself and we waited and waited.....finally giving up! We just made do with the cold buffet, We were in the room at the top of the house which was spacious, but coombed ceilings posed a problem for my 6ft partner. No food was available as the restaurant had shut... More
