We booked the George and Dragon for a night out in Chester. When we arrived we were ignored for 20minutes by staff who just blanked our presence however the young lad who showed us to our room was very friendly and polite. The first thing you notice when walking too the room is the shabby grubby walls. Our room was... More

Stayed for one night bed and breakfast on a Saturday and it only cost £50 for two people. Room was spacious and so was the bathroom. There was tea and coffee in the room. The best thing is the location and the car parking. Car parking is free which is a big plus in Chester as you often pay £10... More

Myself and 2 friends stayed in the George & Dragon, Chester on 8 October 2011 for 1 night. We were celebrating our friend's 40th birthday. We needed a room that sleeps 3 and this was the only hotel in Chester in our price range. The room cost £88 for the night. The staff were so lovely and really made us... More

We stayed in the (haunted room) the room was clean but needed updating. The food was really bad.The hall way and stairs to the rooms were very damp! I would advise anyone not to book into this hotel unless you are in chester for a stag or hen party. Loud banging in the middle of the night (not down to ghosts... More

We booked this trip as a birthday pressie for my husband's 89 year old Mum, so you can imagine how I felt after reading previous reviews. I need not have worried. From the minute we arrived, (which was earlier than expected, but the room was still ready) to checking out, I could not fault it. The room, bedding & towels... More

The pub was a great base, a few minutes walk into Chester centre. It had a car park with CCTV and the hotel staff were really lovely, plus the breakfasts were very good! The rooms were clean and comfortable although a little tired and dated (circa 1970 furniture) but the shower was hot and strong and there were clean towels... More

My partner took me for my birthday. We got into the room to find it small, dark and dirty. There was a large, questionable stain on the bed, cobwebs, dust on the sides and by the door. It looked like bad student digs. We stayed in the room for 10 minutes then left. The staff were understanding and there was... More

We stayed at the hotel for one night as a base for a weekend trip to Chester: Good points: Good location - only 5 min walk to Chester Centre Clean Friendly Staff Breakfast was good Bad points: Lots of noise from the road so not ideal for light sleepers Staff, although friendly, were very slow to acknowledge your requests The... If it's 5 star luxury you want then get your hand in your pocket and pay for it. If it's good value, clean and a good breakfast then you'll be quite happy at the George and Dragon as we were. The room was small but perfectly adequate for our needs and the pub food was surprisingly good value. More
