Chose to stay at the Peacock for a romantic night away and wasn't disappointed. Chose the romance package and our room was fantastic! Spacious with a large four poster bed and the added touches of champagne and strawberries, our own robes and bed turn down service. The food was good, and the hotel has a great charm about it, perfect... More

A great welcome on arrival and escorted to the bar for a drink. The menus and wine list arrived quickly and we gave our orders. The only "let down" was that the roast beef had finished. Never mind, the roast chicken breast I had was probably the best ever and my wife's roast pork similar. The parfait starter for me... More

Hotel and Staff were good. Food didn't excite me much. Was hoping for a bit more from a 3 rosette kitchen. I don't understand how the AA award there rosettes. Been to so many great restaurants that don't even have one.

We have just spent one night bed, breakfast and dinner at this charming little hotel. The service was friendly and genuine, the rooms are quaint. If you do stay i would recommend having dinner at the hotel, its lovely food, exceptional service and frankly driving around the area nothing really competes. We did an afternoon at chatworth house. The hotel... More

This small hotel proved a good find. Staff friendly and helpful. Rooms - not fussy , not overly- luxurious , but comfortable , clean and all one needs ( Except it seems digital TV not arrived in the area so only the five terrestrial channels). Breakfast spoiled only by weak coffee. The evening meal was very good "fine dining". Could... More

This was our second visit to The Peacock at Rowsley. Easter was exceptionally cold with deep snowdrifts at the roadside making the views magnificent. The warm welcome from the staff on reception and complementary tea & scones helped us to thaw out after our journey. The room was cosy with views over the garden and river. The food was excellent... The peacock has achieved a rare balance of the formality of a country house hotel with the informality of a very good local restaurant. The lunch menu is well considered and the presentation and execution of the courses are excellent. The trio of Italian wines on the menu were amazing value, given their quality. We were impressed enough to be... More

Stayed here for 1 night dinner bed and breakfast. The hotel is first class, absolutely charming and the staff friendly and helpful. The bar is wonderful and we enjoyed a lazy couple of hours sat by the fire before dinner. The restaurant and food was very good, but a little formal for our liking and if you like great food... More

My husband and I came for a rare lunch date. I really wanted to be excited by this place. The staff were wonderful, the bar area was lovely. The ding room was nice. As another reviewer pointed out there is no music playing resulting in a very awkward atmosphere when it's just you and one other table sitting right next... More

My husband and I visited The Peacock for dinner on 30th March 2013. We decided to visit based on the Tripadvisor reviews. We did not stay overnight, just for dinner. Good points: - Extremely attentive, polite and professional. - Cosy and relaxed atmosphere (there was snow outside and the open fire were lit inside). - Very good quality of drinks... More
