My girlfriend and I stayed at Colonial Bay for a few nights in the summer of 2011. We stayed in the small 1-bedroom cottage, which was very cozy and well-equipped with everything we needed, including our own barbecue (which we wish we had used). The property was small but nice-- It allowed us enough space to throw an Aerobie around,... More

At the very instant you arrive, the peacefulness and serenity of the surroundings begin flow through your muscles and veins like sweet anaesthesia. Nothing fancy or pretentious on the surface...but you will quickly discover the opulence of Muskoka's unrivalled natural beauty, the luxury of good-fellowship and the magnificence of total and complete relaxation...and it's a LOT of fun, too!! We have stayed at Colonial Bay a handful of times over the past dozen years and plan to keep coming back. The lake and the property are terrific for parents and kids - tons of free watersports, swimming - and an awesome sandbox. The cabins are simple and clean and the prices are very reasonable. There is great hiking nearby,... More

Thank you for your review and comments. We do have a lot of fun at Colonial Bay and enjoy seeing our guests canoeing, kayaking and playing in the supersize sand box. See you next summer. Bruce & Nicolle More

I was looking forward to revisiting this motel, having been there 14 years ago. I had not checked other prices in the area. The family that runs the resort seem pleasant and were helpful in suggesting a place to eat. (Just across the street, and very nice). The room was clean but basic. No overhead light, bedside lamps not matching,... More

Kathryn J. We are sorry to hear you feel staying at Colonial Bay is too expensive. Our standard studio room rate is $89-$125 and private cottages $130-$280 per night and summer is our peak season. We recognize each and every one of our guests evaluates their stay differently and not everyone values services and experiences the same. We couldn’t agree... More

We booked last minute with our two young children at Colonial Bay and we were very pleased and surprised with how lovely everything was. We stayed in a studio suite, which met all our needs. The room was clean, the property was well maintained, with well kept lawns and some trees for shade, and was very quiet. The lake front... More

Thanks for the great review. Sounds like you were able to take advantage of all the fun stuff at our waterfront including the canoes and kayaks. Hope you had a chance to bounce on the water trampoline! Look forward to seeing you again. Bruce & Nicolle More

We enjoyed our stay there twice in Jan of 2009 and 2010. The rooms were clean, and there is nothing negative i can say about Colonial Bay. Maybe except one thing, couldnt find firepit under the snow ;) We are planning to go back tere next year for another quiet weekend. More

If you want to get away to this area on a thin budget, then you won't be disappointed with the delux room. The sleeping/kitchenette living area was extremely clean, the kitchen area had what we needed and the fireplace made the room cozy. (stop at Cdn tire for logs)The delux room is probably best for one couple because the accommodation... More

Just put my deposit down for the 2009 season, I've been going to Colonial Bay for 7 years now with my family. Many of the same people go the same weeks year after year. As a result we have made some very good friends and look forward to our yearly catch ups. It's also nice that the owners treat you... More

We had a wonderful time here. The cottage was very clean and the owners, Bruce & Nicolle, went out of their way to ensure a good time was had by all. We would definitely return. More

Please disregard any negative postings - some people can't be pleased. Colonial Bay is my perfect summer getaway. A breathtaking Muskoka setting. Clean and cozy accomodations. Easy to find. Close to anything we need or want. And the friendliest hosts you'll ever encounter. But most importantly, they are masters of hospitality - always anticipating and addressing our needs and wants...
