We were walking the South Downs Way and found the Jack and Jill perfect after a cold day in the hills. Excellent home cooking at reasonable prices, way above the standard of most pub grub. Rooms were clean and warm and though not very spacious perfectly adequate. Really friendly owners who welcome walkers. We set off in the morning fortified... More

This pub is wonderful. It has a lovely warm and cosy feeling to it. The staff are all friendly and helpful and cater to specific needs, the decor is brilliant, it's very cosy and has a very welcoming feeling. There is a vast choice of ales and beer. They have a children's garden and an adult garden which both are... More

We were made very welcome on arrival by the owners. A real fire to sit by was a treat. Food was great with a varied menu. Rooms were clean plenty of tea and coffee provided. Excellent breakfast, only one comment to our friendly hosts . Please may we have a small pot of coffee instead of one cup and Breakfast... More

I attended a midweek business lunch here. The choice was solely based on the fact that the Jack & Jill offers very easy access from the A23. The pub was clean, the staff were friendly and the ambiance was perfect for our needs. We had planned on a quick pub lunch and were absolutely stunned by the range of freshly... More

We stayed here for one night, arriving from Hassocks Station (£5 cab, or 20 min walk), then we had lovely dinner in the pub (good, honest food menu, a couple of great ales - not too uber-gastro, good quality and nice service). Nice room, good value for money, tasty breakfast, and a great place to start a walk on the... More

Our group were based here for nearly a week. We used all the rooms which were freshly decorated and best suited to those who are likely to be out and about. The garden has views of the windmills and it is possible to walk directly onto the South Downs. We also enjoyed trips to Devil's Dyke, Lewes, the home of Virginia Woolf... Best English breakfast ever, thanks to perfect bacon. All staff extremely friendly and helpful. Really nice pub. Great walks up to Jack and Jill (windmills) to take in the views. Great spot for an over-nighter.

Cycled the SDW in 3 days and stopped at this pub on the second night on route to Eastbourne. Have stayed here twice now and found this pub to be an excellent place to stay. The staff are really friendly and the breakfast really good quality. The rooms are clean, reasonably priced and do the job after a long day... More

5 adults, one child and two babies arrived without a reservation for Sunday lunch. After a refreshing round of drinks , the ale selection was superb, in the very beautiful garden,we asked for at table for lunch, but noticed how busy the restaurant was. As it was quite cold, we were offered at table inside . They managed to provide a well... More

Probably not the place to go for a romantic weekend away (unless your passion is windmills) the Jack & Jill is fine if you need somewhere to sleep when walking or cycling the South Downs Way. The rooms are a bit rough and ready (ans the water pressure in the showers is shocking) but you have food and drink a... More
