We spent 3 nights here in May. The hotel sits on a crossroads & whilst it's not the M25, it is a bit noisy. With our window open at night passing trucks woke us up more than once. On first arriving at the "old front door", it looks fantastic - a beautiful old stone building. But the way in, through... More

Hello Mike and Ross Thank you for your review. I am sorry and intrigued to hear of your disappointment with some aspects of your stay. The Cross Foxes sits at the foot of Cadair Idris mountain and is conveniently located on junction A470-A487. We do have passing traffic but this is mainly during day time hours. Traffic noise is more... More

Stayed for one night in April ,Staff were totally accomodating and provided great service and courtesy. Arrived with a party of friends late afternoon and had pre booked tea. The Ritz would find it difficult to match-,sandwiches,home made cake and scones. Nicola(e) the owner provided details of a local walk to work up an appetite for dinner ,spectacular scenery and... Stayed at the Cross Foxes over the Easter break. Modern facilities with a little touch of old worldly warmth and welcome. The building has been completely renovated; the rooms are cosy the beds very comfortable and the very modern bathroom with power showers are a great touch after a long day exploring Snowdonia delights. The kitchen drums up a good... More

Super all round. The young staff were excellent, polite, helpful and well informed. The room was comfortable and the food excellent with reasonable vegetarian choice. Good local Real Ales. THe restaurant and bar are popular with local people. I would recommend booking the restaurant in advance. The only criticism wold be the heat of the water in the shower. When... More

Just enjoyed a weekend break at the Cross Foxes which we thoroughly enjoyed. We had two nights dinner & bed and breakfast and luxury packed lunches on a 'walking break'; the food was fabulous and the staff were very friendly and helpful. Our room was cosy with a very comfortable bed and super 'rainforest' shower. We were not disappointed and... More

Myself, husband and friend (who was visiting) visited the Cross Foxes on New Years eve. We called in for drinks and experienced a fantastic welcome and atmosphere, great service, free champagne, fireworks and a live band. The hotel opened about a year ago following major refurbishment and its a great place to go. I live locally and so I really... More

We were recently taken to the first Murder Mystery Evening held at the Cross Foxes to celebrate a friends birthday, and I just wanted to say what a fantastic time we all had!. Everyone seemed to enjoy themselves and join in the fun which made for a very relaxed and jolly evening and the staff couldn't have been more helpful... More

I arrived late in the dark but the hotel was well lit and easy to find. The room was terrific, beautifully designed and a fabulous bathroom. After a good night's sleep I awoke to see the view. Wales is of course the most beautiful country in the world and the view from this hotel amongst Wales's best. I just wish... More

We stayed at the Cross Foxes in the Idris room for 2 nights in October 2011. I had just run the Cardiff half marathon so was looking for some chilled out, R&R time in beautiful Wales and that's exactly what we got. The Idris room was really cosy in an 'oldey-worldy' kind of way which gave it it's charm. The... More

We stayed one night at Cross Foxes as part of an exploration of Snowdonia. We booked the Cadir room directly with the hotel, Staff very helpful during booking process. The room was very well appointed, boutique style apparently in the middle of nowhere - in fact it's about 1 mile from Dollgellau set back slightly off the main (and slightly... More
