We booked this several months ago via Red Balloon and had the three course lunch which was excellent. The slow cooked shoulder of lamb for two was fantastic but too big for us. We could not eat it all no matter how hard we tried. The vegetables as a side dish were perfectly cooked, reasonably priced and the roast potatoes we simply the best. All the entree’s looked very good with four or five choices. I had the scallops which I really enjoyed and the strudel for desert, was not to be missed. There were four or five main dishes to suit most tastes. George our waiter could not have been more helpful. Highly recommended and we will definitely go again with family and friends.

After a long awaited visit, went here to celebrate Mothers Day High Tea. Thanks to covid. Lovely venue awesome views, hidden from the road. Beautiful lake/pond surroundings, walkways very pleasant day out. Food was delicious, service was great, staff very nice and couldn’t do enough for us, nothing was too hard. Me being diabetic was wondering how this would go with all the sugar I was expecting. Catering was great. Please do visit this exceptional place.

We stayed in one of the Chalets for our wedding night 6 years earlier and thought we would visit again with friends. Again, this luxurious property did not disappoint. Chef prepared a beautiful 3 course dinner in the formal dining room Saturday night which was out of this world. Breakfast each morning was delicious and the staff were accommodating to our every whim, special thanks to Rick and his amazing team for a truly memorable weekend away at your beautiful property.

We had a delicious high tea. The only downfall was the crockery/dinner set was very cheap thick white dinnerware. This could have been improved for such a beautiful location for high tea. The variety of the high tea food was very nice and the coffee/ tea was very nice.

During the lockdown we ordered the 3 course lamb roast dinner. What a spectacular meal and easily the best lamb we have ever eaten. Rick and the team were absolutely brilliant to deal with. Can’t wait to visit Woodman Estate once this ridiculous lockdown is over

Travelling with another couple we had a wonderful time in this beautiful estate. The house and grounds were truly beautiful and timeless. Our room was in the house and was a standard room. It was comfortable although the hair dryer was sticky and gross the room was clean and comfy. The included breakfast was varied and outstanding. We played snooker but along with any other social gathering including chatting in the lounge we were reminded m brusquely by a rather stern woman that 8pm was time to retire for the comfort of other guests. The staff were otherwise lovely and happy to accomodate. We did feel that the high tea and degustation dinner missed the mark somewhat. Ok but not excellent...the flavours were at times muted and the protein was over cooked resulting in it being a little dry. Portions of the proteins in the degustation were tiny and felt mean. Desert however was excellent. Overall a very good stay that could be outstanding with a few tweaks. Excellent value and beautiful grounds, take it up if you get the chance

We were extremely disappointed in our stay here. The promise and price of the beautiful grounds etc did not extend to the accommodation. We had a Lakeside Chalet, which had wonderful views, but sadly lacked the basic cleaning you’d expect from a 4/5 star rating. Upon arrival, we found the toilet seat needed to be wiped down of cleaning products before it could be used, there was a used and gooey mess of soap in the soap dish in the shower, the freezer tray in the fridge was over flowing and cascaded all over the floor when the door was opened, and there was a massive sticky mess on the kitchen bench. Not wanting to “make a fuss”, we left a note for the cleaners, rather than going straight to management. Unbeknown to us, management read that note on the 1st day, but nothing was said until we were leaving after a 3 night stay, and then it was excuses about Covid and staffing issues. We were told that our complaints were taken very seriously, and that “they would be in touch with us”. Well its been 3 months since our stay, and we haven’t heard a word. Suffice to say we will not be back and will not be recommending this pricey farce to anyone.

My husband and I went to Woodman Estate for a belated 50th birthday for me. I was unable to celebrate last year due to complete lockdown. I have food intolerances and the chef did an amazing of job with our meals there to ensure that my meals were delicious whilst eliminating the things I cannot eat. The food was fantastic and the staff were amazing. Alicia provided us with a list of places to see and helped us with places to eat as well. The staff in the restaurant were also amazing they chatted with us and gave us more ideas of what and where to visit. I cannot praise this hotel and it's staff enough. If you want a beautiful location, food and a relaxing time this is your place. Can't wait to return.

My wife and I stayed in a lakeside Chalet for two nights. It is very spacious with a separate bedroom, large en suite with a spa bath, lounge and kitchen. Reverse air conditioning provides additional comfort. Also has a private verandah with a table and two chairs to enjoy the views of the lake. Breakfast was excellent with gourmet a la carte selections, plus a buffet to choose from. We had high tea with sparkling wine, one afternoon at 3 pm and it was nice. Dinner was excellent (although expensive). The lake and the extensive grounds provide serene views and a tranquil atmosphere. The weather in Autumn was very nice with top temperature of 25 degrees celsius.

"We booked a two night package in Dec. 2020. We arrived as requested at 2.20pm. The Receptionist was on the phone and after 15 minutes waiting for some attention, we were shown to our room. Our package included High Tea which started at 3pm and we had been traveling since 6am, so we just freshened up and dashed to the restaurant 10 minutes late. High tea was lovely, the staff were professional and the food good, it was relaxing and enjoyable. We returned to our room and looked around. Oh Dear, this was the smallest hotel room we had experienced, ever. The only place to open a small suitcase was an expanding rack. When this was open and had a suitcase on it we had to squeeze between it and the bed resulting in a grazed shin and several stubbed toes. To get to the tea making facilities we had to make this journey several times, as these facilities were in the wardrobe, our poor toes! The bathroom was spacious but a little shabby. Two 'white' bathrobes on the back of the door were decidedly grey and needed replacing. There was no fan or air conditioning and one small window so the bedroom was stuffy. One of the cups was chipped and particularly in times of Covid this is not good! On the second day the bed was not made, tea, coffee and toilet paper were not replenished, nor were the rubbish bins emptied. However, the best was yet to come. In the morning when we got up there was NO HOT WATER for a shower!. We went down to the reception at 9 am. to ask that this be fixed. There was no one there,... anywhere! I rang the front door bell in and effort to attract attention and a helpful young waiter came from the dining room. He could not have been more polite or helpful but all he could offer was a phone call to the manager. We had breakfast which we enjoyed and returned to reception, still no one there! We finally met Rick as we were about to go out and he agreed that the water was indeed cold but it would be fixed immediately. However, after returning from sight seeing, and looking forward to our first hot shower of the day we discovered we now had NO water. We were informed that WHEN there was a problem with the hot water they chose mid afternoon to turn the water off so the plumber could fix it. How many times does the hot water go off then????? Finally we had showers and a lovely dinner, Next morning we went to reception about 9.45pm to pay our final bill for dinner the previous night. Well, you have probably guessed, there no one there, I should add that we were not the only guests waiting for assistance on these visits to reception. After waiting ten minutes I found the waiter again and explained we were to catch the ferry from Sorrento and couldn't wait much longer. I also wanted to speak to Rick regarding our disappointing stay. We arranged that the waiter would explain we had to leave and that the amount owing would be charged to our credit card. He asked if we had used anything from the bar fridge. We laughed, what bar fridge? There was a small empty fridge in the room but that was as close as we got! Was that the final episode? Well no.. We waited and waited for the money to be charged. Finally on 15th of Feb 2021, two months later the amount was charged to our credit card. No invoice was received, no reminder that the deduction was to be made. Would we recommend Woodman Estate, absolutely not, unless you just wanted to use the restaurant. Would we ever go back, NO! There are too many well run places to stay, which is a pity because it could have been so nice , with beautiful gardens, a small lake and good food but it was promoted as luxurious and worth the higher price and it certainly wasn't that."
