Don't bother, dreadful place. Looks nice from the outside but mediocre inside and the table was dirty and sticky. The staff are rude to the point of being downright sarcastic. Will definitely avoid and will tell others to as well.

Stopped for lunch during a long walk and were amazed to find a Dales pub that didn't allow dogs - despite the stone floor and plenty of room . Sat outside in the drizzle and had a pint ( good! ) and some sandwiches and chips ( sparse filling and pathetic attempt at salad ) The landlord lived up to...

Eleven of us met up at Buckden to walk along the river to Kettlewell where we intended to have lunch before returning to Buckden - but unfortunately the weather was against us...rain, rain and more rain...so by the time we got to Starbotton we were all soaked (so much for 'waterproofs!) and decided to call it a day. We noticed...

I am only reviewing the pub / food! as I haven't stayed here.
This pub, going back 10 yrs or so, used to be a gourmet pub and at times you couldn't get near it to eat as it was always full!
But oh how times have changed.
Basic pub fair reasonably well served but complimented with frozen chips and...

Lovely looking pub and a very welcome sight after a long walk.a cosy bar and good selection of beers along with a warming fire to greet us.
It is just a shame the bubble burst with the attitude of the bar steward in charge.

Had a fantastic week in star bottom, and frequented the fox n hounds every night. Good food and magic choice of wine, great log fire ,such a scenic pub ,quant and cosey, the steak n ale pie is a must .this pub is in the pretty village of starbotton, which is pretty and central for. Hill walks ,highly recommend .
When today and had a lovely time. Pub was clean and very presentable. Very friendly staff and they seemed to know what they were talking about which is not always the case in many pubs. Would go again.
Recent stay at the Fox and Hounds and we had a lovely time, food was very nice and room was clean and quiet. The landlord and landlady are lovely and nothing was too much trouble for them. Thanks for making our stay very nice.......would reccommend Fox and Hounds any time!
We stopped at this pub today and ordered two sandwiches, half of bitter shandy and a half of lager. £12.85! half empty sandwichs on half stale bread with limp lettuce! Loos have seen better days and certainly would never stop here again! Heaven knows how they got 4 red roses from the tourist board
stayed for just one night but enjoyed a good dinner -fine beer and wine.basic accomodation but perfectly ok. excellent base for walking.
