Even though this place was going through refurb we stayed and had a very nice welcome. Maria who was looking after the place was lovely and nothing was too much trouble. We had the family suite for 5 of us and everyone had plenty of room. Would go again More

After a great day travelling around the west country, we stopped here for a meal - what a mistake......very limited and expensive, and everyone that had the cheeseburger has been vomitting and running to the toilet all weekend. I called the hotel, but they were not really interested. Calling tyhe council tommorrow, and see what happens. But, take this as... More

Went for a birthday meal with grown up family of six, limited menu with high prices but hoped for the best, very disappointed. Many items didn't resemble those listed on the menu, vegetarian risotto had ham in it, tagelletti only spinach no mushrooms or leeks, sausages as stated in another review awful and appeared to be microwaved, burger cheap variety... Having had a fantastic meal here only in January,i was hugely dissapointed when i arrived to an empty bar and a 'Under New Management' sign. There was not a customer or staff member in sight. Finally seated and the menu in front of me, i was shocked by the poor choice and shocking prices - between 11-17 pounds, i wasnt... More

I ate at this pub a few years ago on my way home from Bristol airport and had a nice lunch. This week, again travelling back from the airport I stopped in for dinner and was left dissapointed. There was a sign up saying the place was under new management, it seems as though they aim to increase profits by... More

The stay has been really nice. Dinner was very good, the service very friendly and quick. The room is very nice. But the downside was that the breakfast was very poor almost terrible, eggs under cooked, over cooked hollandaise, almost no selection for the continental breakfast and they under cater (i.e. no croissants left after 5 mins of the start... What has been a really great place for a stop over seems to have taken a nose dive and I feel sure that it has been taken over. The room price was fair and better than an off the peg motorway stop over. The rooms are tastefully decorated but now looking a bit tired. Dim lighting was not just the use... More

We went here for lunch on a Sunday with a couple of friends. We had 2 courses for £10. Although the portions weren't massive the food was really nice. I had pheasant sausage which was cooked and served really well. My friend and I were tempted by the crackling on the pork dish and asked if we could have some... More

Had a really fantastic dinner at the Ship & Castle last week. There was a big group of us which made no difference to the service or quality of food. Very good food and a great venue. Went there last year and it was not so good - think there may be a new chef as the menu had a... More
