We were taken here for a Sunday lunch back in January, it was delicious. We married on the 19th May and and wanted to take a break by the sea, but having a 9 month old puppy whom we had not left before had left us in a quandary, I spoke to a lovely lady on the phone whom said... More

we got a late booking after seeing the resort in a magazine and we were fortunate to get the hottest weather of the year. The room was ultra clean and comfortable and the staff bent over backwards to accommodate us. The food was great and the bistro staff as helpful as the hotel staff. The beach is literally over the... We had the pleasure of having lunch at the Gallivant hotel recently. It was a fantastic lunch, very attentive staff, and great food. It was a lovely location by the beach, perfect for a walk with the dog. More

My wife and I visted the Gallivant oportunistically last weekend and were delighted by the fresh and inspired menu. The quality and preparation was well above what we paid for it and I highly recommend a visit if you are in the area. I had a fresh seafood platter. My wife said potted shrimps were to die for. Nice. We stayed one night after spending the day on their 'Fish, from boat to plate' course. Well situated across the road from a huge beach. Staff extremely friendly and helpful. Rooms simply but sytylishly furnished with everything we needed and a few welcome extras, including home made biscuits! Breakfast was delicious and filling using local produce. Would recommend. More

Hi 2CAM - thanks for your review. It was a good course we thought and great bunch of people attending. I know Trevor (head chef) really enjoyed the day and seeing as the feast at the end of the day went on for over 2 hours, so did you guys! best wishes The Gallivant Team More

Having spent over £250 on a nights stay with dinner and breakfast, it did leave me thinking we had been cleverly marketed to. The room was ok but certainly not superior as badged. The room was 10x10ft with a sofa squeezed in. The normal family bathroom and outlook onto the car park gave it a real B&B feel. Yes there... More

Hi Travelhoundsquirrel Thanks for taking the time to write a review. I've stayed in some really special B&B's in my time so not entirely sure what point you are making with your header. We aren't sure which room you stayed in but assuming it has a sofa in it it was either one of the outside rooms or larger Deluxes... More

An excellent location - right by the sands. The welcome was warm, the rooms well equipped and the food truly delicious. I haven't had a French soup outside of France that was quite as tasty. More

We went to the Gallivant to celebrate a Birthday, and the thought the rate for a Sunday night seemed a good deal, with Sunday lunch and breakfast the next day. We read about the hotel in the Times on Saturday. I agree with other reviews, that the place was not what we'd expected. Firstly we thought there would be views... More

Hi Skipper123 Thank you for your feedback on your recent stay with us. I am sorry you did not sleep so well with us, we do take sleep very seriously at The Gallivant, it’s a big part of our business. In general we get great comments about our beds, so much so we get asked where we buy them from.... More

I stayed here for 1 night with some friends. The location was great, we were able to drive into Rye for a wander and a lazy lunch in just about 10 mins. The beach (huge and deserted in a wet April!) is just across the road over the sand dunes and is wonderful for strolling along. We ate in the... More

My family spent the Easter weekend down at the Gallivant and were a bit dissapointed with the place. Firstly the food was mostly brilliant, although the 'full' breakfast was a bit stingy. And secondly the staff were friendlya and helpfull. No complaints there. Our real issues were with the hotel itself, as we have yound children we booked a room... More

Hello DavidGee G Thank you for your praise for the food - brilliant! The 'direct outside access' is described on the website to specifically indicate just that, i.e. you don't have to walk through the hotel to get to your room, it has 'direct outside access'. Not sure exactly how else we can describe these four outside rooms. None of... More
