Good location for seeing penguins (there are only 8 pairs of penguins however, not the mad dash across the beach everyone was expecting!). Site is in a lovely setting, however it is totally basic. More

The views from the office are great and we could see dolphins swimming amongst the board riders. The weather was bitter. The campsite was very basic and the toilets and showers were quite a hike from where we parked our camper but the quiet and privacy of our site was great. Seeing the mother penguins coming in at night to... More

Basic tent pitches and toilets, but well priced and well placed! Lots of information in the office, and you get to see penguins within a 1 minute walk! More

If it wasnt' for the view and peace I would have moved on. Staff on arrival were friendly, gave us good viewing times for local attractions and told us to pick a site (we were in a tent). Pitched in amongst the numerous flax sites. Grass very long (but trampled down from previous campers) and the areas in flax were... More

A friend recommended this campground and I'm extremely happy she did. Located in the remote Catlins National Park the camping ground has a surf beach on one side and a petrified forest and yellow-eyed penguins on the other. As you can understand it can be windy and miserable but we lucked out staying on New Years eve with great weather... More

Amazing location on bluffs overlooking the ocean on three sides. Very very basic campgroud - showers are concrete blocks, kitchen is just a few outlets and kettles. But, space, privacy and views make it totally worth it. Water crashing on rocks, sunset, blue ocean, beach and flax....can't beat it. More

I don't think any other campsite can beat the location, unless you convert one of those viewing bays at Grand Canyon to a campervan park! It's right on the peninsula between curio and porpoise bays and you get the chance to park your campervan a few feet from sea lions and seals. However, the weather will play a very important... More

This cheap small camp site is about as basic as a camp site can be without being a DOC site yet it has much to say for itself and should be on most people's visiting list. Imagine a camp site on a headland overlooking a large sandy beached bay with clear blue waters, the occasional pod of Hectors dolphins gently... More
