Like a lot of reviewers, we stumbled upon this place whilst driving from Nelson to Blenheim. Needing a cup of coffee, we saw the sign and pulled in. The owner suggested we inspected one of the motels and we were amazed at the quality and amenities. We had arranged while in Nelson to stay at a motel there, but decided... More

This is a lovely quiet and relaxing spot. The cottages are very nicely done-very upscale bathroom. Kitchenette area is well equipped. Everything was immaculate. Very comfortable beds. Heat and Air conditioning is available, which is not common in NZ. Lovely setting. A special little bonus are the 2 gorgeous golden retrievers.....very friendly but extremely well behaved....if you don't show interest... More

We found the Mount Richmond Estate by chance on the road from Motueka to Picton. It's family run and beautifully cared for, resembling a country estate rather than the usual motel concept. The individual units are self- contained and extremely well equipped for anything from an overnight stop to a longer holiday. All the good points of any motel you... More

At first impressions this place may look like an old timber mill ( well it is actually), and while they have kept a few of the old forestry buildings the motel units are all new and extremely well appointed and served daily. Lovely view from unit over lawn area to forest and hills, lots of birds, peace and quiet. If... More

On our way from Nelson to Picton we stumbled across this haven of peace. The motel rooms are of a high standard and well maintained. We stopped off for a coffee at the motels cafe/resturant and discovered not only delicious homemade food of high quality but the perfect setting for a motel. The estate houses the lodges and the bird... More

We discovered Mount Richmond Estate last winter when we stopped in for a coffee at Foresters Café on our way to French Pass. We asked to look at a unit and were impressed enough to plan this year’s trip around a stay here. And stay we did, just leaving yesterday after spending two nights in Charlotte, one of the estate’s... More

We stayed at the motel at Mt Richmond estate for two nights during Easter weekend and it was overall a lovely experience. Owner Robert and his father originally from the UK operates the motel very nicely and an on-site cafe (menu looks interesting althrough we ran out of time to try). There is a spa pool behind the cafe that... More

Mount Richard is right by the roadside en route to Nelson and an easy base for day trips out to the Sounds , Elaine Bay was a favourite with a great little kayaking Company out there , all this can be booked at reception withn no extra dharges. Mount Richard is an odd location and consists of revamped forestry buildings... More

We have stayed here three times. It is spotless, tidy and the staff are friendly. They have everything you need to cook for yourself in the cabins, but I would also recommend eating in their restaurant as the food is good and not too expensive. I would certainly choose this place to stay if I needed to get to Picton... More

We'd stayed at the Mt Richmond Estate several times before, but that was a few years ago. We knew they had made some changes, but they've done a fabulous job. The old cabins have been completed rennovated, the spa area is great and the cafe makes great food. Our plan was just to get away and relax - and we... More
