My wife and I were looking for somewhere to feed our son and ended up enjoying a delightfull meal. What a lovely welcome and nothing too much trouble and the pint of Otter ale was so good I had a second. We ate from the bar menu and were not disappointed fresh ingrediants, well prepared and very well presented and... More

The purpose of this trip was twofold. Catch-up with friends who live near and walk the dogs! We sometimes struggle to find a good place that will accept ‘well behaved’ dogs. The Walnut Tree Hotel and Restaurant doesn’t openly advertise this but were happy to accept our booking when we called. The Inn is in a very pretty clean village... More

Our second visit was just as wonderful as the first. Our hosts couldn't do enough for us and the home made evening meals were fabulous - we will certainly be staying here on our next visit to the West Country. More

says it all really we've stayed in places with better rooms-= and bathrooms - but this was quaint and old fashioned charm - bed was comfy - we had a kingsize - room was very quiet. The owners were very friendly and welcoming - and Peter produces the best food we have tasted by far (and that exceeds a lot... More

My friend and I couldnt quite hack camping at Glastonbury so we decided to check in to The Walnut Tree, which yes was a little bit further away then we thought from the grounds, but was such a welcome relief! Not only did we awake to find our muddy boots cleaned for us, but the staff even offered to collect... More

An unscheduled stop near Castle Cary due to family needs, led to the discovery of this really lovely small hotel in nearby West Camel, Somerset. Room 4 turned out to be a delightfully appointed room and en suite bathroom overlooking the patio on the first floor. WiFi was fast and free (essential for business), the room was nicely appointed and... More

I remember loving the Walnut Tree a few years ago. I'm afraid re-visiting today was a complete disappointment. Maybe it's just changed hands - lots of new 'fake antique' looking furniture which probably came from a big pub and hotel supplier. We ordered fish and chips - standard pub food, what can go wrong? Actually the fish itself was a... More

The room decoration was very old (in bad way like 80's) and unfashionable. Old fake flowers everywhere in the hotel. I could see there are many things that they are saving cost - Towels are bit dull, bath mat was thin and very small, no plastic bags inside of rubbish bin. The duvet looked well used therefore it was full... More

We stayed here whilst attending the Glastonbury festival. The room was very clean and equiped to a high standard. The ability to gain direct external access to our bedroom without entering the hotel was much appreciated and ideal for guests returning late at night. One minor criticism was the timing of breakfast which ceased at 9.30am. At weekends, 10 am... More
