This was our second stay at the Santa Rita Lodge in 4 years and we enjoyed our stay. This time we stayed in the casitas and it was small but comfortable. The beauty of this place is on the outside of your cabin, room or casita. The view from our large rear window in our casita was lovely. One comes... More

We've been coming to the Santa Rita Lodge for about 12 years. We hadn't been back in a while and over the past month have been back twice! The new owners have done a great job of updating the cabins and casitas, adding a really nice gift shop and taking excellent care of the property. There is a lot of... More

All my life, I've dreamed of birding in Madera Canyon. Finally had the chance to stay for 3 days. How very sorry I am that the place we chose to stay was the Santa Rita Lodge. First, they messed up our reservations, stated plainly and months in advance. Then they stuck us in a cabin that was filthy, unsafe, and... More

Have stayed here many times over the last 20 + years, usually in the cabins. I still love the place, but the most recent trip made me see problems as much as features. Super location, Madera Canyon is great, birds are wonderful, the sycamores behind the rooms are beautiful in moonlight, convenient to Tucson, great hiking, amazingly quiet unless you... More

This is the place that we woke up and saw wild turkeys outside our back window. That's what you should expect here... nature and joy. Priced reasonably for an out-in-the woods place. Nice gift shop. Good kitchens.

We stayed for two nights and had reserved two Casitas. It was a great place to stay and do some local birding. Easy to get to trails in Madera Canyon and surrounding area. We purchased steaks and bratwurst and wine in Green Valley and were able to grill our supper. Our neighbour even shared some fish that he was grilling... More

I stayed for two weekend nights over Memorial Day holiday in one of the single room "casitas". The room was plenty big enough and seemed to have just been painted and spruced up. This is the place to stay in Madera Canyon for wildlife, particularly bird watching. The lodge has an area with about 10 feeders and a rock fountain... More

We stayed for four nights in early April.. This facility is in a somewhat remote/isolated canyon south of Tucson. However, on a weekend, the canyon gets rather crowded with folks from Tucson. It is about 60 to 90 minutes from Tucson (north), Nogales (south) and prime birding sites in all four directions. Madera Canyon is, itself, an excellent birding destination.... More

We stayed in Cabin #9 for 3 nights. Our experience was similar to other reviewers. The cabin has one large room, a medium-sized galley kitchen, and a small bathroom. It has a decent-sized deck in the back and a patio in the front. Cabin #9 is at the opposite corner from Cabin #1, which means there are no cabins on... More

Stayed here with my partner for 3 days. You need to bring all your own grocery's to cook up as the nearest shops are in Green Valley. The cooking facilities are all provided. It's really secluded and was a brilliant base for my partner and I to see the Hummingbirds of the area. Waking up to see wandering deer over... More
