I returned to the Peacock, for a Christmas lunch with a party of friends. We had preselected our choices of menu and the staff were careful to ensure that any dietry requirements were adhered to. I had a salmon and prawn starter, delicious beef and fruit. Good portions. I recommend for just a meal as well as a peaceful night... More

Went the the Peacock for a roast dinner before Christmas. Great choice on the menu, roast dinner was superb. The boys had Eton Mess which was more cream than meringue, so they didn't eat it. Needs updating but very comfortable and homely feel, and staff very friendly. worth a visit. More

We stayed four nights at The Peacock, Martin and all the staff made us very welcome. We had a comfortable and enjoyable stay and we will certainly be back. As we had two dogs with us it was important that we had a good sized room, our dogs were made most welcome too. The purpose of our visit was for... More

We stayed for 2 nights in August. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this clean homely Hotel. We had a great room and although it had no view it was the type of room you would expect to pay more for. The restaurant was excellent. We made the mistake of going elsewhere for a meal on our 2nd night. The staff... More

My daughter was getting married at nearby Notley Abbey and so many guests had to travel a fair distance and booked The Peacock for a 1 or 2 night stay. I found the hotel to be very good, the bedrooms were very clean and comfortable, the food was delicious and most of all we experienced great hospitality. My mum (86... More

I stayed as part of a large group, using the hotel as a base for sightseeing and holding part of our function at the Peacock. Martin ensured that the rained-off barbie was an indoor success and he provided an atmosphere of welcome and fun. My room was comfortable and the meals were first class. I should definitely return - either... More

Needed somewhere to stay overnight after attending a friend's birthday party. Using sat nav, the hotel was easy to find, despite being at the end of a country lane. Room was very spacious and clean with a very large (or even king-sized) bed which was very comfy and a good sized shower enclosure (no bath in room) and plenty of... More

We recently stayed here for one night as it was close(ish) to an event we were attending in the area. No major complaints, but the place is dated and quite daggy and the service we received was just a little awkward. They weren't rude, but it just felt a bit strange. The breakfast was fine, but then again we really... More

We spent a night at the Peacock and had a very relaxing stay. We wanted somewhere near Oxford, but without paying Oxford prices, so this was perfect. The rooms are spacious, clean and decorated in light colours (quite a brave choice, since it is popular with walkers along the nearby Ridgeway!) We didn't eat dinner, so can't comment on the... More
