Recently stayed with my wife at the Black Lion Hotel in Walsingham. The Lady Hotelier was incredibly accommodating and friendly. The room was spotlessly clean and full of beams and character (unsurprisngly given the buildings age) and the super king size bed was absolutely fantastic. I travel regularly with my work and it is possibly the best sleep I have... More

Stayed here in April 2012 and it was wonderful, the staff were so welcoming and helpful. The rooms were lovely and clean. the beds were very comfortable. We ate here most nights and every breakfast and were more then impressed with the food, it was what i would have expected from a higher end restaurant. There was a wonderful area... More

Two of us stayed here on Saturday. The lady hotelier was charming, and helpful and the room was very clean and nicely aired. The bed ( Room1) was fantastic, slept really well. Our breakfast was substantial and hot. The previous review which was quite spiteful I think, bore no relationship to the quality of the stay we enjoyed. Lovely and... More

The hotel is described as a "boutique hotel" on its website - it is far from it. Photos of the accommodation fall short of reality. The decor is in dire need of updating and looks shabby. The rates charged are far too high for what you get. Breakfast was adequate but be prepared to wait a long while. The hotel... More

We stayed a night on the way home from a week in Suffolk. We saw a big improvement on our stay back in 2009. Evening meal & breakfast excellent with attentive service. New owner working hard to upgrade the hotel. Big bed in room 2, quirky but updated bathroom, clean & warm. Parking is a village problem, I was lucky... More

This is a very old property (parts go back to the 1400's) that has undergone a recent makeover. The bedrooms are very comfortable, but each one is unique so it is hard to make a general observation other than the hotel is scrupulously clean and welcoming. The quirkiness of the rooms is a positive feature and a refreshing change from... More

Food, service and beer all really great - staff are really friendly and helpful. Went on a Wednesday night for the steak and a pint night - for £10.00 - and found the quality of the cooking superb and the quantity of food offering excellent Value for Money. We would definately recommend you try it, you won't be disapointed. Great,... More

What a pleasant surprise to find that the Black Lion had been reopened under new management. It's probably fair to say that the lovely old place had been looking a little tired, but not so any more. The new owner (total workaholic) is in the process of giving the whole building a major makeover and the place is starting to... More

We stayed for 1 night with our four sons, ages 5, 8, 11 and 13. The rooms are warm and well-appointed with comfortable beds and en-suite bathrooms. We dined very well in the restaurant, enjoying a great evening meal. The food was of excellent quality and good value: perfect for a family. The cask ale was very good. Breakfast in... More
