My husband and I recently were lucky enough to stay here for two nights to mark our first wedding anniversary, and in summary - WOW!! Driving into St Andrews, a small beachside settlement on the ocean side of the Mornington Peninsula, on a dark, damp Friday evening, it was difficult to anticipate what awaited us, winding down the small streets,... Just got back from this stunning place and as mentioned there is absolutely nothing 'blue' about it. Was greeted by the Host Lisa, who is a very warm natured person who stood in the rain with an umbrella waiting to greet us. We stayed in the Bush Hideaway and felt really secluded, the place was beautifully furnished with an eclectic... More

Just got back form staying two nights in the Beach room at Big Blue Yards. The rooms are tastefully decorated and the spa outside was a real treat. We had dinner one of the nights and the owner Lisa cooked a lovely meal to our dietary requirements. My only complaints would be that for the price you pay a water... More

Colin thanks so much for your trip advisor review – all our guests’ feedback is invaluable. TA is such a valuable search engine for people who want to experience something different, something new. Big blue backyard certainly fits that mould for Melbournites, Interstaters and our international friends. Absolutely delighted with your suggestion about the water - big blue backyard rates... More

Now I know why there are so many great reviews about the BBB, as me and Andrew have just experienced for ourselves during our 2 nights stay for his Bday in Feb. We were greeted by friendly hostess Lisa, in their bush embraced guest parking spot. She introduced us to our African hideaway. There floated a bouquet of balloons with... More

After many years of trying to outdo each other with birthday getaways, my girlfriend and I have vowed to return to Big Blue Backyard each year. 'Simply perfect' sums up our first, but definitely not last, stay with Lisa and Paul. After a warm greeting from Lisa, we very quickly settled in to our wonderfully private, spacious, clean hideaway. After... More

We stayed in the large and very comfortable Bush Hideaway. Very secluded and serene. You can hear the ocean but it doesn't drown out the wind in the leaves of the trees. My 10-year-old son loved the walk to the beach (maybe 10 minutes, rather an adventure). Lisa's tips on what to do in the area were invaluable; she suggested... More

As we parked our car we were greeted with a friendly Hello from Lisa welcoming us to this Paradise on Mornington Peninsula. We stayed at the Beach Hideaway; large comfortable bed, comfy couch and modern bathroom all decorated in a beach theme and with many items fashioned from beach driftwood including a magnificent sculpture by Paul on the main wall.... I made a booking online for this property and after confirmation discovered that it was not for the dates I needed. I'm not sure how this happened, but I rang the property and explained that I had in fact needed the weekend prior. Sadly they were already fully booked for the dates I did want - at which point I... We stayed in the Beach Hideaway for 2 nights in January. Without a doubt this was our favourite place to stay in Australia. Amazing location, beautifully decorated rooms, individual with lots of attention to detail. The breakfast and dinner were superb, as was the service overall. Considering it was peak season, and the rest of Mornington was awash with hundreds... More

Lisa and her husband gave us a glorious 2 night change of scene when we stayed with them 8 weeks after the birth of our first child. The candlelit dinners in our room were a great addition and well executed in both cuisine and service. We loved the beef. And the massage was absolutely fantastic. The location was perfect for...
