We had a lovely time at the Camp; saw Rhino, Lion, and more! It was worth every minute with Steve's enthusiasm when guiding, Funny Boy's cheeky smile as he told about the 'nyami nyami', Peta's warmth, professionalism and sense of humor, the delicious food and clean functional 'rooms'; the whole team was a joy to spend time with and we... What a brilliant adventure we had a Rhino Island - from the exceptional hospitality, excellent staff and wonderful ambience - we couldn't have asked for better. We came back home truly refreshed and are eager to return in the near future. ! Thank you Jenny, Megs, Steve, Steven, Funnyboy and the rest of the Gang for making our stay so... More

I had a wonderfull time at the Rhino Safari Camp. A warm welcome set the atmosphere and the warmth didn't go away for the next days. They are flexible in their program, so you can do what you feel like. Go on a jeep safari, fishing, a walking safari, relax at the beach, whatever you like. Their guides are all... More

A mixture of Robinson Crusoe and Swiss Family Robinson with the best that the African bush has to offer thrown in. There was a brief moment when I felt a bit like Audrey Hepburn in the Nuns Story, recovering from TB in her bamboo sided, mosquito-net shrouded eyrie in the sky. We just loved our stay here; Jenny and her... More

Rhino Safari Camp is a true safari experience, ideally situated on the shores of Lake Kariba. My husband and I found both the hospitality and the food to be superb and our guide, Steve, bent over backwards to make our trip a memorable one. All the staff were friendly and helpful. We dined outdoors in the evenings, with a beautifully... More

We stayed in Feb 2013 and had a wonderful time. The location is spectacular with fantastic views across the lake in day with beautiful sunsets at night. The rooms are fantastically laid out with great views across the lake and the opportunity to view wildlife from your room. The staff provide a great welcome and great food, and are kean... More

If you are looking for somewhere to relax, unwind and see some amazing wildlife this is the place to go. The accomodation is beautiful and looks out over the lake, the hosts and the food are excellent, and the surrounding park and wildlife are incredible. We even spend 3 afternoons fishing which was suprisingly productive! It was wonderful to find... More

After a long drive from Harare, we were met on the shore of Lake Kariba by the staff of Rhino Safari Camp. We then had a one hour trip in a small motor boat to the camp. This gave us an opportunity to see just how vast Lake Kariba is. We saw our first elephants and hippos from the boat... More

Having travelled frequently to Zimbabwe over the last 40 years, I can confidently vouch for Rhino Camp. This is a proper bush camp - no infinity pool or spa treatment: this is for experiencing the bush, the game, the birds and the environment. The camp itself has been well sited to provide both great views of the lake and the... More

We stayed at Rhino for four days in September 2012 and it is a super camp. Accommodation is simple but excellent and the setting very beautiful. The welcome couldn't have been kinder or more warm and I would recommend a visit to anyone. Great elephant and rhino sitings and 104 different bird species in 4 days; and then there is... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
An old fashioned luxury rustic bush camp situated within the Matusadona National Park on the shorelines of Lake Kariba. Guests are accommodated in seven twin bedded stilted wood and thatch chalets, each with its own en suite open air shower and flush toilet. Each chalet is on the edge of the jesse bush, facing the lake so they benefit from the cooling breeze from the water. It is not uncommon to have the wildlife walking in front and around the rooms, which allows for "close and personal" encounters with the game. Game viewing activities include drives, walks and tracking, and sunset cruises all in the company of a professional guide. For those guests who like to drop a line in the water, we also offer fishing for bream and the world renowned tiger fish, and Elephant Point is regarded as an excellent area to fish in. The Matusadona National Park is home to the Big Five, being lion, elephant, buffalo, leopard and the endangered black rhino as well as a host of smaller plains game and a wealth of bird life. Rhino Safari Camp can be accessed by speed boat transfer from Kariba or from the nearby Kiplings/Rhokari and Bumi Hills airstrips. Meals are homestyle and freshly prepared at camp and meal times revolve around the game viewing needs of our guests. The guides and camp manager/owner host our guests and offer them a relaxed homely environment in which to enjoy the peace and tranquility of the wilderness of the Matusadona National Park. We look forward to your visit.... ... more   less
