Plantation House in Salento was undoubtably the most placid and beautiful guesthouse we had the fortune of staying at throughout our stint in Columbia. In fact we loved it so much we stayed for just under a month! ... Although partly due to illness, but primarily due to its unparralled charm and great vibe. To miss this place on your... More

We went to Salento for two days to visit El Valle del Cocora and paid in advance from Bogota for the booking. We checked in and received the room. However, for personal reasons, we had to go back to the Capital the same night we arrived. I asked for a refund given the situation and got a very "rude" and... More

We had an email reservation for a double room with Plantation House and were asked to contact them if we were likely to arrive after 6pm - apparently this is normal. We texted to say we would be a few minutes late, but when we arrived at 6.30pm Tim told us they had let our room. Apparently he was out... More

I think I had very high hopes after reading about PH in the Lonely Planet so was a bit disappointed. We arrived after 6pm and had emailed to let them know this would be the case however our room had been given away. Luckily there was another room available which we stayed in. However we were told to come back... More

Spent three nights here and loved the location, close to the centre but far enough too wake up to the sounds of birds. The room (#1) was basic but clean, could have used some sort of shelving so as to avoid having things on the floor and the "double" bed was tiny. The owner and most of the staff were... More

This is definitely a basic place, but unlike others that I've stayed in for a similar price, the private room that I had was clean enough, comfortable and had hot showers. It was nice and quiet, without the atmosphere being sterile. Great views and setting. Many activities available, and you won't be encouraged to overpay for anything. Staff were helpful.... More

You can stay on an actual coffee farm and help with the coffee making process if you want. The panoramic views of the coffee valley are absolutely breathtaking from the farmhouse rooms. when you are there ask for the penthouse suite, it has an amazing view and is only a couple dollars more than the dorm rooms. This place is recommended in the Lonely Planet guide, but the place is not really worth it. We staid at Plantation House in December 2011. We were planning to stay few nights, but we changed our plane and we left after one night after being given a dirty and stinky room! OK, people were nice :) More

The best part of Plantation House is the access to the coffee plantation that Tim, the owner, has a passion for. Overall, the accommodations were fine for a hostel and the new kitchen area very nice. But I can't say enough about how nice the tour was at the plantation itself and the plethora of information that Tim so willingly... More

Our first night in Plantation House was in a dorm, which was crowded, unattractive and a bit dirty. We were able to move into a nice double with a very comfortable bed the second night. The setting here is very beautiful, but there's no real area to hang out in, particularly if it's chilly. There's no big outdoor patio or... More
