I recently spent four days at Cabanas la Tortuga with my husband (who is Ecuadorean) and his mother, daughter and grandson. It was one of the best experiences I've had in Ecuador so far. Rustic without sacrificing comfort. The cabanas were clean, comfortable and charming. Ours faced the beach, so the view was spectacular and the sound of the surf... More

We stayed here for a few nights after experiencing the crowds in nearby Montañita. Unless you're looking to party (which I can totally respect!) this is a great alternative for a quiet, laidback stay and solid surfing. The cabañas are clean and comfortable, with screens in the windows and a fan so you can stay cool without being eaten alive... More

I can't say enough great things about Cabanas la Tortuga. The manager Monica was extremely accommodating, the rooms were clean, the food was great, and it was exactly the place we wanted to relax. We originally stayed in Montanita then moved to Ayampe because the surf is much larger and more consistent. We stayed in an ocean front cabana that... More

I didn't know anything about the weather in this time of the year along the pacific coast in Ecuador so of course I felt at first a bit disappointed by the mist and the grey but in fact you get used to it and you end up calling it a soft day ! Apart that, the people there , the staff... More

The beach is very nice, but La Tortuga has a poor infrastructure. The rooms are very basic, modest, disappointing. At the restaurant, the only place where you can eat in kilometers, has a very poor service. There is an Argentinian (surfer guy) that pretends to be a waiter, but is very rude and indolent. Don't stay there. Prefer Orishas cabins,... More

Cabanas La Tortuga provided a great, relaxing place to enjoy the beaches of ecuador. I stayed there three nights and I very much enjoyed it and recommend it to any travelers or vacationers. The rooms were nice with a big shower and hot water, the food was incredible, but most of all the people were amazing. Everyone was so friendly... More

We have been traveling along Ecuadorean beaches only to be dissappointed at how development has taken its tow, with bad planification and ugly housing...not In Ayampe. Its probably the last, and only beach left in Ecuador with no cement boulevard right at the beach! And that is thanks to people like David, the owner of La Tortuga who have constantly... More

The hotel and the town is a great place to relax and disconnect from the rest of the world. The food is great and owner knows the area very well and understands the importance of protecting nature. The hotel has WiFi, full restaurant, laundry service, pool, kayaks and can help arrange all your excursions. I highly recommend and can't wait... More

If you are looking for some peace and tranquility directly on the beach then this is the ideal place, away from the crowds and noise of Montanita. Staff were friendly and welcoming and food/drink was great. Rooms were comfortable - particularly enjoyed chilling out in the hammocks provided for each chalet.
