We stayed at this country pub for a walking weekend. As other members have reported, the welcome is warm and it is in a very pretty part of Dorset. We stayed in Room 4, one of the rooms in the converted skittle alley. A very comfortable Hypnos bed, plenty of space and a large bathroom. The food was good, although... More

If you are looking for a taste of rural England then you can't get better than the Brace of Pheasants. My wife (who is American) and I wanted to go to rural England for a change and try out some old English hotels. The good news is that the Brace of Pheasants is in the middle of nowhere. At night... Came across this place looking through an AA guide of Secret Britain, the book was old so researched on the Internet. Excellent web site which persuaded us to book at the last minute. We were not disappointed, lovely welcome by Sharon who couldn't do enough for us. The room was decorated to a high standard, spacious clean and tidy as... More

Just returned from the Brace where four couples spent a couple nights! Beautifully clean and well sized rooms and super English breakfast. We ate in the restaurant both nights and were very impressed with the quality of our meals. Really good local beers as well together with owners and staff that made you feel most welcome!

Arrived Friday afternoon to a warm welcome and checked in then went for a walk which was absolutely gorgeous, although we did stray into the woods and were told to retreat as people shooting deer there! stay on the top of the hills. Pub was warm and friendly with nice beer and ciders and a great choice of wines. We... More

The Brace of Pheasants is situated in the remote hamlet of Plush nestling in the Dorset rolling hills. Suddenly it appears as you meander through the lovely countryside. We were given a warm reception when the amenities were explained and we were shown to our very comfortable and beautifully designed ensuite bedroom. The exterior and public rooms looked tired and... Its easy to appreciate a Sunday roast after an invigorating walk in the breezy sunshine for the couple of hours beforehand. This hidden-away place certainly delivered it. Really good fennel and tomato quichy pie to start followed by roast venison and all the trimmings. The meat was so-so but the trimmings - especially the yorkshire and the roast veg -... More

We booked a weekend stay in early December 2012 via KGB Deals. This was our first KGB Break so we were unsure of what to expect but we had review the accommodation on trip advisor and liked the good reviews. Well, I can safely say the review rating is spot on. The accommodation was excellent. We booked a room in... More

If you go to Dorset, definitely go to this pub. It is a bit difficult to find, but more than worth the effort. It is in a beautiful village, and when we went it was sadly too cold and wet to sit in the garden. The rooms are super, but if you cannot stay, the food is certainly not to... More

Ignore the slightly shabby exterior appearance because inside you will find a warm welcome and more besides .. we were celebrating our wedding anniversary & my husband's birthday and couldn't have been more delighted. Very friendly atmosphere, lovely bedroom (in the old skittle alley), good location for walking and outstandingly good food, both evening meals & breakfasts.
