This is a great place, the family are helpful and friendly, the rooms spacious and each with a very different feel and unique furnishings. The environment and location are excellent and I would unquestionably return. More

Having previously stayed at Southcliffe Hall and explored the environs, we decided it would be perfect to hide away for a short break over NY. Upon arrival we were greeted as if old friends. Kate, Barry and the boys welcomes were much needed after a drizzly drive. Barry, between baking had been making sure the promised fires were roaring. We... More

We stayed for three nights at this charming, quirkily eccentric b&b nestled mid way down the valley towards the sea. The welcoming greeting was warm enough and the hosts Kate and Barry instinctively know when appear and chat and when to leave us be. However after such a long drive in getting there it would have been nice to be... More

I stayed in the 'billiards room' which was huge - the biggest room I've ever stayed in, in a B&B. One of two rooms with views to the sea. It had an amazing (if slightly impractical) canopy bath from the 1860s. One of many eccentric features of the house. The room was cold though (even with the heating on). But... More

Katie and Barry have opened their home to guests and are welcoming hosts. The house overlooks the sea, a five minute walk down a path. Our room was huge with an antique bath and quirky antique fittings. No TV, no mobile phones, very relaxing. Breakfast was served on the terrace, we had great weather, and we ate one evening in... We stayed for one-night only, battling through December storms and floods to reach this Gothic mansion. Kate and Barry warmly welcomed us with tea (lots of it!) and homemade cake. We sat by the cosy woodburning fire as the gale howled outside and the sea roared in. And we didn't move for three more hours. Their gorgous little boy was... More

what a shame that the hostess mars the beauty of this magnificient building with a breathtaking view. being of south african descent the rooms are poorly decorated with tatty interiors, faux english decor and disturbing african artifacts in poor taste. the linens and towels are mismatched and well worn. the view will take your breath away but the "you are... We planned to stay for one night and ended up booking three. A great place, mostly due to the owners who have been very, very kind and welcoming. The Hall and the village of Lee are beautiful. The atmosphere is relaxing and nice and quiet. The house is grand, on a great spot overlooking the sea. The rooms are huge,... More

Southcliffe Hall, at Lee Bay in north Devon was a wonderful place to spend the second half of our honeymoon. The place is a gorgeous old Edwardian building that has been recently renovated by its owners into a luxurious B&B with a real charm and style of its own. The home-cooked food is better than any restaurant in the local... More
