Have stayed and eaten at the Cumbrian Lodge before but in all honesty I prefer staying in Gosforth. That said I will pop to the Cumbrian Lodge for the occasional meal. You know here that you will get a good dining experience and a good steak meal. This time I had the black pudding starter with a beautifully cooked steak... More

I enjoyed a really tasty meal here with family in October 2012. I don't eat meat or fish and, having mentioned this when booking, a variety of dishes were offered in addition to the standard menu. Starter was a delightful pear salad with delicious toasted seeds and mixed leaves. My fellow diners had king prawns which all went down very... More

I've eaten a few times at The Cumbrian Lodge and I've always been impressed by the quality of the food and the service here. The bar and restaurant are decorated in a very light, airy style but manage to be cosy and the seating is comfortable with plenty of space, so you never feel crowded. Dishes on the menu range... I have stayed here a number of times over the last few months and it is one of my first choices if I ever go back to the area. The owners run a small (6? room) hotel and a restaurant, and of the two I think they concentrate on the restaurant more than the hotel. That's not to say that... More

We were staying nearby and our Hosts suggested Cumbrian Lodge for a meal. We were not disappointed. A varied choice on the menu and some interesting combinations. Some rather yummy puds too! Staff were friendly and obliging. We would recommend this restaurant if you are in the area. Some brill 'huts' outside, with heaters for al fresco meals if you... More

I stayed here once on the recommendation of a work colleague. The gentleman running the hotel seemed a little odd and almost perturbed to have someone staying who was not a regular. He handed me a key and expected me to know where the room was. The bed was the hardest I have ever experienced anywhere, though the room itself... More

Stayed here for a week on business. Very nice rooms and a really friendly welcome with excellent service. The food was great too, if a little on the expensive side (there aren't many other options in the immediate vicinity). Only real problem was that the rooms are above the public bar and some of the locals were really noisy. What... More

Stayed here a couple of nights in June 2010..a delightful place..very few rooms but they are excellent. The place is more designed to good food..and is worth a visit if for nothing else..there are little pagodas in the garden for outside dining. I got the feeling that its very busy during the week with commercial/business people and at weekends runs... More
