Great location completely marred by presence of horrifically rude owner. Never in my travels have I been so rudely treated by management. Rooms were filthy (bed covered in mouse poo - I don't mind camping, I don't mind roughing it, but I do mind paying >$100/night for a room in a country where that can normally get you considering more.... First of all I find it very strange that someone suddenly after one year decides to write a review when she already had complained earlier on a Tripadvisor forum in May 2011. I remember this woman. She had booked for two nights in the treehouse and after one night decided to stay only one night and wanted a refund for... More

Much has been said already, so I will sum up the good and the bad as briefly as possible. Positive: - A 'normal' toilet and a warm shower - Decent food most of the time - It's a treehouse! Enough said. Negative: - The last part of the walk up to the treehouse is slippery and dangerous in the dark... More

Hi Jenny, thank you for your review. It is true that the tree houses have been the talk of the day lately. We as management also knew that the tree houses did need renovation. This has been finished for the first tree house now. The one you slept in is going to be renovated after this high season but I... More

We were in Chimps’ Nest for 2 nights and 3 days. Right when we arrived in the parking the caretakers were waiting for us and made us feel welcome. We received the same welcome at the reception of the camp where Lillian the receptionist explained to us how we would spend our time there and answered our questions. The guide... More

We stayed in a cottage for two nights and one night in the tree house. Afterwards I still can’t decide whether we should have done it the other way around; one night cottage and two nights in the tree house. Both were unique in its own way. The beautifully finished cottage with its space and fantastic open bathroom or the... More

First and foremost, I am certain the owner will respond to this review in the same curt manner he has to others. I am not on holiday; I live here. We have travelled to 20 different African countries, so I have a good sense of how things ought to go. Despite owners protests to the contrary, we were not allowed... More

We do not agree with this review, simply because this review is not based on the truth. What actually happened was that we informed the customer extensively about the rooming situation at Chimps' Nest, so that these people would not get any surprises on arrival. Of course we still do have all the emails to back up our side of... More

If you want to be right in the middle of the rainforest, surrounded by macabey monkeys and surround sound day and night, then this place is unbeatable. We loved it! Watching the monkeys come right up to our balcony, and to listen to the huge variety of calls was magical. However, it is run down and in need of a... More

Thank you for your review. It is true the 'old' tree house needs an overhaul and we have started with this when the low season came. It should be ready by 15th of May 2012. Rodents like to build their nests in grass thatched roofs, and since the tree houses are in the forest where many rodents live there is... More

When we arrived, I remember climbing the stairs to our tree house and exclaiming "this is the coolest place I have ever stayed!" You literally are eye level with the monkeys! Within minutes of arriving we watched a group of black and white colobus monkeys playing on one side of our tree house and a mixed group of grey cheeked... More

Beautiful location, next to the Kibale Nature Forest Reserve with easy access to chimp tracking and Bigodi swamp walk. We stayed in the family cottage and found the 7 minute uphill walk to the restaurant no bother – but it could put off some others. Elephants raided the next door maize fields both nights we were there - resulting in... More

We stayed there for 2 nights during our stay for our chimp trekking at Kibale Forest. Our cabin was number 7 and is closest to the reception. It has a balcony and an outdoor bathroom. Our water was really hot, however it is brownish, because of the heating with fire wood. Be sure to tuck you mozzie net under the... More

After what seemed an eternity, we arrived to a heavily packed 'foyer' full of smoking people. Our welcome drink was a warm weak cordial and a 2 hour wait for our room. The decking floor boards were broken and wobbly. The menu was awful and the foyer toilet was full and stinky! We waited over 1 hour for a toasted... More

Your welcoming drink is free, so your remark seems rather ungrateful. You had to wait for your room because you arrived in the morning and check in time is 2 PM. We are aware that the restaurant needs to be worked on, but we had to wait for the low season. We are working on it as we speak, also... More
