This is a great way to see Quebec City. University residences are always so clean and quiet in the summer. Huge room, free wifi, fridge microwave and our own bathroom. Bus was right outside the door, pub on campus. Free parking, it is really a great deal.

By the time you pay the taxes and the buses in and out of town it would have been better to stay in a hostel or B&B in the city. This is exactly what you expect: dorm rooms rented out to visitors when they are not in use. You get small rooms, camp beds, thin towels, shared showers and toilets, free parking, wifi around campus for a small fee. Ok the rooms are not as in a Grand Hotel but the price is extremely low and the bathrooms are always clean (even if they are shared with other people). Just 5-10 minutes driving to Quebec city is a good choice for the low budget traveller

There is a Major Bus Stop at the University. I would take the 800 or 801 and it takes you directly to old quebec and it can even take you to the waterfalls.
