We were staying in Stratford for the weekend, so we checked in on Saturday and the desk clerk tells us that she's leaving at 6 PM, and that there will be no staff at the hotel for the rest of the weekend (it was New Year's Eve). We were given the front door keys to the hotel, and were told... More

Just got back from a business trip to the Stratford area.I stayed at the Albert St Inn.This small hotel could have possibilities, and be a sweet little place to stay, but the owners have let it fall into a disgusting state. The carpets are filthy. They close the front desk at 7 Pm,which is weird, since no one is there in care of... This, I imagine, was once a lovely building in it's prime. Unfortunately, it is very run down. The carpets are stained, the hallways are dark and dingy. There is no elevator, but it Stratford's boutique hotels that is to be expected so for us, not a deterrent, but others may struggle. The room was very small, at some point our... More

I was really worried after reading the horrible reviews of this place but it really wasn't bad at all -- especially if you consider the location and price. The location is perfect. The hotel itself is old and charming. The rooms were clean and had all the essentials. Our room (a mini suite) had very tall ceilings, huge windows and... More

We read the reviews before booking and should have known better. But everything else was booked, the price was good and - hey - we're only going to sleep there. Right? Think again. There is no elevator so only book this if you are young and have light luggage. The five days of trudging up three floors got wearing. The... More

The Albert Street Inn reminds me somewhat of those Gower Street B&Bs I frequent in London. The location is quite near the theatres, the atmosphere is pleasantly lived-in and warm with age, the service is neighbourly and helpful, the place is clean and tended to, the room rates are very reasonable, and in the restaurant at breakfast one can mingle... My husband & I decided to celebrate our anniversary by taking in a show at the Avon Theatre in Stratford. Since we had no idea where to stay, we decided to throw caution to the wind and listen to the reviews that described the Albert Street Inn as "quaint" or full of "ambience," rather than the others. Granted, it is... More

I booked at the Albert Street Inn because this was a last-minute trip, at the height of the summer season, and all the b&b's I checked were booked or outrageously expensive. Then I went online and read the reviews, and was horrified. But my own experience was not bad at all. Sure, the notorious carpet was worn and discolored in... More

If you are looking for a lot of extras, the Albert Street Inn is not a good choice. There are many very good B&Bs - and a few hotels - that will be more comfortable and have more amenities. The Albert Street Inn is comfortable, clean, and a good value. A few examples of the lack of amenities: - No... More

This is an old hotel with "ambiance". Each room is different but very clean. It is within walking distance of the small downtown and is very close to a lovely park near the river. There is no elevator so if you can't climb stairs don't stay here. It's delightful to overnight here for a weekend of plays at the festival! More
