I just called the Marshlands Inn to book a few rooms for my fiance and I and our wedding party for the weekend of our wedding. I was told quite clearly that because that weekend was when students returned for the university year, they were "not interested" in booking rooms for us! I tried to clarify by asking if what... Owner was very unfriendly. We stayed in the carriage house, and although it had a tv we weren't allowed to leave the tv plugged in at the same time as we wanted to plug in the straightner or the travel kettle we had or the fuse would blow. Most of the rooms also didn't have a TV, and we had... More

This was the place to take your date in the 70's as a student at Mount Allison - elegant and great food. What happened? Stayed there for one night while I was in town for a meeting at Mt A. Tired, rundown, and bizarre decor. Needs a major retrofit to restore this once elegant inn to what it was. So... More

We had our wedding dinner reception for 38 people at the Marshlands Inn on Thanksgiving weekend. Most of our out-of-town guests also stayed at the Inn. We were extremely pleased with the way the Inn handled our special event. The food was excellent, the service was timely and the rooms were very comfortable. Lucy and Barry went out of their... More

I stayed here a couple of nights with friends for a golf trip. The decorating is klitchy and cluttered with nick-nacks but it reminded me of a favourite aunt's taste. Room was clean, bed was comfy. It could be a bit noisy if you are a light sleeper. I didn't see anyone to carry your bags up the stairs to... More

I spent 6 nights at Marshlands and enjoyed the stay. My room was upstairs in the Carriage House so was nice and quiet. The room was nicely appointed and I loved the small skylight. It is close to the university and in the downtown area which makes it accessible to restaurants. I did not eat at Marshlands restaurant due to... More

Totally agree with the last review about not having expectations...it would be best. It was basically clean but cluttered with old stuff which is concerning for people with allergies. It need to be decluttered for the client's enjoyment. It did not appear that the staff get along well. We could feel the tension... which created a negative atmosphere that is... More

Yes, they are understaffed, but the Inn is clean, great location, beautiful property, history... Food service is very slow, but good quality. Some rooms have strange stuffed animals in them -- ask for one without toys/dolls etc. (one of the owner's is obviously a collector). If you are in a rush, give lots of notice for bill and/or receipt at... More

First of all, the rates aren't printed anywhere when you check in so it's up to you to negotiate a price for a room. I was given the choice between a double and a queen but the website says there are only twins and doubles. The "queen" where I slept was clearly a double (and I was charged for a... More
