Never, ever again will I waste my money here. I cannot fathom what all the hype is about. The staff are stuffy, pretentious and make you feel small and unworthy of their "superior" Inn. Upon arriving we were greeted with "can I help you??" when what she really meant was "what do you want? Are you lost?" After finding out... More

The Union Club in Victoria is located next to The Empress. It's 100 years old this year and a wonderful inn. With just 20 rooms on two floors overlooking the inner harbor, there's not much more you could want. It has a reading room, lounge, library, billiard parlor and dinning room. It was far more than we had hoped for.

We stayed here for two nights in August, and are glad we did. The Union Club has an old-time feel but with modern efficiencies. We were in a recently upgraded room, with fairly new paint, lighting and furniture. With the exception of the bathroom, everything was quite spacious and comfortable. The bathroom, however, had hardly any counter space, which made... More

We enjoyed the quiet and and the high standards of the Union Club. Before arriving we were concerned we might feel as outsiders; however we were welcomed by everyone we saw, staff and members alike. We enjoyed the dress code, it was not overly restrictive, we never felt underdressed. The breakfast was delicious and so enjoyable in the quiet, elegant... More

We had a ‘room with a view’ during our stay on Victoria’s Inner Harbor in this elegant and elderly Union Club of British Columbia, located across the street from its more well-known neighbor,The Empress Hotel, an icon of the city and its busy harbor. The Club, eh? Doesn’t that mean ‘private’ with membership? Not completely. . . The Union Club... More

This is a quirky accommodation that simply has to be experienced and enjoyed. It is a little throwback in time when standards mattered - those who don't like that may want to reflect on what that says about them. This is a private members club and they are entitled to set the rules. We were made hugely welcome from the... More

We stayed at 5 different hotels in BC during a family trip in June. The Royal Scot was our first hotel and remained one of our favourites. My husband and I traveled with 2 adult sons, so we had 2 rooms. I am a light sleeper who is usually bothered by light and noise. I had no trouble sleeping here.... More

The room was tiny but clean. The food was wonderful and the wait staff professional and friendly.

This hotel is part of a private club. It's right next door to the iconic Empress Hotel but charges a whole lot less. The suites are a real bargain and breakfast is included in the room rate. I was too late for breakfast and had lunch instead. My tuna nicoise was excellent. It didn't have the usual canned tuna. Instead... More

Great location, comfortable and quiet accommodations. The rate charged is appropriate for the accomodations yet it is an excellent value based on the location next to the Empress. As long as you are not offended by some of their policies (get over yourself) this is a charming property. Our room linens were very nice, good housekeeping staff; the bathroom has... More
