5 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 May 2012 NEW

We recently stayed 2 nights at Sunwapta, from the check in to check out we were spoiled! super friendly, helpful and fun staff. We loved the fireplace, wood delivered to our door and the complimentary champagne. The food was exceptional, everything we tried was amazing! I didn't know there is no cell service, 5 minutes later I didn't care, it... More

The lodge is isolated and I had forgotten how far out of town it was (35km). The cabins are older and rustic but come with a few configurations, which may be of interest to travellers with larger family-related parties. Our family of 5 stayed in two ajoining rooms in the same cabin so we were able to be close to... More

One small correction: we are located approximately 55km south of downtown Jasper (30 miles or so). It's great to hear that you and your family were able to see some wildlife and enjoy the natural surrounding of... More

We recently had the pleasure of spending 2 nights at Sunwapta. The accomodation was excellent, we had an open fireplace in our cabin, which was maintained by the resort staff, and lit upon request at reception. We didn't really need the fire, as the room was centrally heated, but it was cosy and delightful. The accomodation was spotless, and beautifully... More

On the positive side this place was amongst lovely scenery, but 30 miles from the shops and civilisation. The cabins were clean and well equipped to cook food but no shop on site to buy anything so the 30 miles to the shops was a bit extreme. The restaurant on site was very expensive and we could not afford to... More

Hi Suetoomer! Thanks for taking the time to post your comments! Also, thanks for the high ratings in sleep quality, cleanliness, rooms and service! We still provide the high standards in service and accommodation that we did in October of 2010 when you stayed. We agree that we are amongst lovely scenery, surrounded by the amazing Endless Chain and Catacomb... More

As the only hotel/motel/lodge within 35 miles of the next lodging (the distance to Jasper) I assumed we would be sleeping in a log cabin room, with dated furniture, and eating at a cafeteria or diner. This was not the case. We stayed in one of the main buildings in a large, newly renovated room with comfortable beds and a... More

The lodge is located right on the highway and is a bus tour stop .. both a bad omen. But the staff immediately erased any fears that I might have chosen the wrong place. They are super friendly and competent. We were walked to our cabin and thoughts of roads and bus tours disappeared. The cabins feel isolated from the... More

My husband and I were very pleased with our stay. Located conveniently between Jasper and the Columbia Icefields which was perfect for us. We had a perfect view of the mountains from our veranda. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Wonderful walk to Sunwapta Falls. The room was lovely, with a fireplace, the restaurant was delicious. Be sure to... More

We had 2 days to see the Rockies and we did not want to tax ourselves driving from Calgary to Jasper in one go. This lodge located on the highway 93. approx. 50 km before Jasper. It looked like an upscale motel but the staff was welcoming, and our room was clean and comfortable. The bonus was the unexpected good... More

The lodge is within a short walking distance to the fall. The hotel is very new, lots of space for two people. It also provides a nice picnic area by the reception area. The hotel coffee shop sells snack from 7am to 9pm. If you need to stay on budget, you can be happy just picnicking. The weather is so... More

This was a great way to spend a rainy evening on what had been a camping trip. The staff brought wood for a fire, we made hot chocolate and played scrabble by a window looking out into the forest. Earlier had a great little hike to Sunwapta Falls, which are beautiful. There is a cool exhibit in front about Native... More
