Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

For the price, this place is fine. I will say that it presents slightly different in the photos online than in person but there’s nothing that wrong with the rooms. The beds are very comfortable, the rooms are warm in very cold conditions, we felt very safe and the staff are very quick to attend to your needs. A renovation especially in the hallways would be a big improvement, and the shower doesn’t get hot hot - just warm. Overall a decent stay.

Good location on Banff Ave with parking available in a lot as well as underground. Room was located at the front of the hotel. No problem with evening noise from the street. Clean with mini fridge, coffee maker, television. There is no restaurant on propery. **You will go next door to the Irwin Inn (same owner) to the reception desk.

Not quite sure what to say about this hotel. The rooms were adequate and the beds comfy. Walking distance to the town and public transport outside your door were also an added bonus. I seemed to wake up every morning being bittten by something and the towels provided could barely cover a leg, let alone a whole body. I also thought it was a little pricey for what it was, but I suppose they increase their rates that time of year.

This place in run down and should be shut down - Unsafe and no locks on external doors. External doors were missing handles and there was just a hole in the door where the lock and handle should be. External doors are not locked at night , neither is the parking garage. Homeless people enter the property after dark. Your safety is not a priority here. Homeless people smoking in stairwells (but paying guests would be fined for this). Security people / cameras are useless and not visible - people entering building at all times of day and night. Reception is not even in this hotel - it is the hotel next door. There is no care for your security. - Cleanliness is questionable, in the morning dirty sheets and towels are strewn all over the room floors and hall ways. This is an absolutely filthy practice. Linen should immediately go into a skip NOT SIT ON FLOOR FOR HOURS. - Room cleanliness poor. Dirty toilets and basins. - Rotting building outside and in. No maintenance happening. - Dirty, stained threadbare linen and towels. Sheets don’t even fit properly on the bed (eg queen size sheets on king bed). You’ll find your feet resting on the mattress protector. - Front foyer and hallways old and dirty. - Staff defensive and disinterested Do not stay. Staff could not care one little bit. You can’t charge a small fortune $500 for a run down $120 a night room - even if it is Banff. The photos online are very misleading. It does not look like this. The only reason I am going so hard is that this owner owns a number of high end establishments in town, but they think it is ok to misrepresent this hotel and exhort money from the less affluent tourists. Appalling and unethical.

Housekeeping services were terrible. Dirty glasses and cups not replaced. Wet towels left in washroom and not replaced. No vacuuming for several days. I had to request service several times after we had returned from skiing. I enjoy skiing inBanff but have removed this hotel from my future places to stay. Disappointing.

I was traveling alone on a budget. I pre paid for all hotels through an agency. I was back and forth the Red Carpet throughout my trip. Each time they insisted on a ridiculous damage deposit which then took days to come back to my card. At one point I couldn’t buy food. Now I’ve been home for over two weeks and my last one still hasn’t returned to my card. Not happy.

A good, comfortable place with well lit and big rooms. Furnished somewhat unconventionally but overall comfortable. One thing that I am still trying to find out from the management (without much success) is why there are additional charges. They first charged the regular amount and later when I checked my cards statement, I saw an additional charge (separate from the original bill).

Stayed one night. Check in was fast. Room was renovated, looked like brand new, clean and big. Undergound parking. If you drive a high vehicle, then underground parking is not for you, max hight js 5'10". The only thing we didn't like it, it is not very well soundproofed. We could hear when people on the second floor flashed the toilet... Woud i stay again or recomend to my friends? Definitely, YES.

When I walked into the lobby I said to myself very quietly " What did I book?" The lobby or lack of is so tiny and so old. Its in terrible shape and not clean as well. I saw coffee stains on the table and I thought to myself I hope the rooms are not like this. When I looked on line I read the reviews and they all sounded pretty good. So I was terrified to go to my room. The hallways to the room were also really old and tired. When I opened my door to my room I gave a big sigh of relief. The room was very very nice and clean. What I dont understand is, if they refurbished the rooms why woudnt they try and make the lobby look presentable. I mean the place is not cheap. Would I stay there again? Possibly. But they would have to clean up the hotel a bit more.
