Once found the Old Manse is one of those quite different but most pleasant experiences. Forget trappings of modern life, barely a mobile signal, no TV , wi- fi or tea coffee in room but it really didn't matter this B&B is delightful . Real leaf tea and strainer arrived in pot and china on tray with home made cake... More

I stayed in the Old Manse for a night during my walk of the Cowal Way. The warm welcome when I got there, very wet and tired, was just wonderful and was so much appreciated! Rob and Sheila offered marvellous hospitality; they were cheerful and thoughtful hosts. The breakfast was first class, really excellent, with an emphasis on terrific home... More

The Old Manse at Strachur owned by Ron and Sheila Macpherson is a pleasure to visit. Their hillside home looking towards Loch Fyne is full of charming furniture and objects that must reflect the interests they have pursued in their rich lives together. The breakfast will surely delight you but the memory of Rob's rendition of Edwin Morgans' poem about... More

This place is fantastic. The owners are exceptionally welcoming and just superb at looking after you during your stay. We got a lift to the wedding we were going to on a wet day, a cosy bedroom and a stunning breakfast (including a poetry reading). I would reccommend this to anyone who loves a great breakfast and an interesting place... More

The house and rooms are wonderful and the surrounding area is beautiful. This is the perfect place from which to explore Loch Fyne. Rob and Sheila are tremendous hosts and made us feel most welcome. We can't wait to go back. More

We had a wonderful stay at the Old Manse. Rob and Sheila are such a delightful couple and great hosts. We were greeted with a warm smile and an even warmer sitting room where a roaring fire awaited us. Breakfast was extremely scrummy each day with homemade yogurts, jams, fruits and oatcakes as well as locally sourced meat, fish plus... More

If you're looking for a cosy, comfortable, rustic getaway, with open fires and a personal touch stamped on everything from the decor and service to the food and company, then I would highly recommend the Old Manse. The owners, Rob and Sheila, literally welcomed us into their home, in every way, and my boyfriend and I thoroughly enjoyed the experience... More

Admittedly The Old Manse is hard to find...we resorted to the Post office...where the lady greeted my enquiry with a "it's tricky!"...but when we arrived Sheila and Rob and Puddock made us feel we had come home! Ushered into the comfortable sitting room, log fire...I know it's August in Scotland...Scotch pancakes and jam, shortbread and real tea relaxation joined us... More

Our stay at the Old Manse was the highlight of a week touring Scotland, mainly staying in B&B's selected from Alastair Sawday's "Special Places to Stay". Sheila and Rob (and their friendly but unobtrusive dog) made us extremely welcome - and went out of their way to make us feel at home. The two guest rooms are lovely (we had... More
