I enjoyed my stay at Piedra de Agua hotel. The building is beautiful, a traditional old style casona turned into hotel. I specially liked the terrace where the pool and restaurant are, it is relaxing and nice, with its hammocks and a great view of the cathedral towers. Its location is ideal, right next to the main plaza and cathedral,... More

We stay there for 4 nights and end up in 3 different rooms and all things that could go wrong went wrong, from a lock that couldn’t be open for 3 hours at 10 pm to forgetting the soap when they clean the room, I have to say that all the people that work there is really friendly and they... More

Our family of four spent 3 nights at the Piedra de Agua. The location cannot be beat given it's very central spot in Plaza Grande and where there are regular street fairs, events, etc. The entryway is completely nondescript and unpromising, but once you enter, it's a very interesting internal courtyard area, and the pool/garden area out back is a... I just want to start by saying that the staff was the friendliest and most fun of anywhere we stayed- they never stopped. We came in and the street in front of the hotel was blocked off for pedestrians only and one of the gentlemen at the desk went out to find our car down the street to get it... More

Upon our first stay at Piedra de Agua (Dec 2011), we found everything to be perfect. Valet parking was free (except tip of course), the building is romantic colonial style, small pool with hammock for an afternoon siesta, good food, bar, and the room was calming and made us feel we'd walked into a spa. Location and price are the... More

I spent one night at this hotel and found it charming. The staff was very friendly and helpful. My room (queen) was small and the bathroom a tight fit but fine for a solo traveler or a short stay. The room smelled nice, there was a balcony looking down on the main street, the bar fridge was full and the... More

Stayed here on the recommendation of friends, and they were so right! The hotel is beautiful and perfect for walking around the historic center of Merida. Staff were helpful and friendly. We had a room on the second floor and had two beds instead of the king we'd reserved. But it was comfortable and our bathroom wasn't small like others... More

We stayed for a week and we couldn't have picked a better hotel. The located is great - a few feet away from the main square and cathedral - and the staff was very helpful and courteous. Every evening we would receive a small snack (cookie, brownie, or gelatin). The rooms are a bit on the small side and the... More

I was looking for a place to stay in Merida, having never been there before, I had to guess. I saw the pictures of this place and read some reviews. Some reviews were good and a couple were not. I can tell you that the bad reviews have NO merit. The hotel is absolutely beautiful and historic, although not a... More
