We stayed 2 nights at this hotel when we visited Merida. The location is really good, and it was very good for us that they had a parking lot were we could keep our rental car. The room was ok, perhaps not the most newly renovated, a little sparse perhaps, but it seemed clean and the beds were good. We... More

This is my third visit to this hotel and each time it's been largely satisfactory and good value for money every time. Whatever other reviewers say, I've found it always to be impeccably clean. Rooms here aren't luxuriously appointed but there's nothing much wrong with them. If it was my hotel I'd spring for some more attractive bedding, but the... More

The Empajador is a great place to stay in Merida when it is hot out which is most of the time. The pool area and the pool are very pleasant. We spent many hours in this area. Our room clean and quiet and medium sized. the staff spoke English and were very helpful.

We've stayed at this hotel many times, and we have always enjoyed it -- especially for the great location. I know the name has changed and I wonder if the ownership has, too? We noticed many things on this stay that need attention. The rooms need some updating and there needs to be more attention to cleanliness. There is a... More

I was surprised by the number of poor reviews for this hotel. This is the eighth hotel we've stayed in on this Yucatan trip and it's one of the best. We looked at 10 other hotels in Merida before settling on this one. Unfortunately the 'Luz en Yucatan' wasn't available but Tom (one of the Luz owners) mentioned this hotel... More

We stayed here one night. The lobby and courtyard area were nice. Our room was on the 4th floor and no elevator, but that wasn't a big deal for me. The room was very small and outdated. It could use some renovating. The service was excellent. Luis, who seemed to do almost everything at the hotel, was very attentive. We... More

My wife and I had to unexpectedly stay a night in Merida and called a couple places. They were booked but one of them recommended this place. Having never stayed in Merida we took the recommendation and reserved a room for one night. Thank God it was only one night. The "safe" in the room was a metal box in... More

We went with another couple and both rooms were bad. The rooms were musty. The pillows were nasty. They covered them with an extra case, but when we uncovered them, they were moldy. My number one thing is clean. This failed in many ways. Our patio door did not have a lock. There was a safe, but you could have... More

This hotel came recommended by a local ex-pat real estate agent. It was one of the worst places I have ever stayed. The sheets had been slept in and not changed. There was so much bodily fluids, including blood, that we slept on top of the sheet and chose to cover up with the filthy bed spread, No choice. I... More

The hotel is very good located but the breakfast wasn't so tasty. They only have the basis things such like different fruits, toast (and no bread), lime juice (no orange juice) and the tables weren't very clean. Some ants were walking on them. The room was ok, but the bathroom should be renovated. The curtains weren't so clean too. We... More
