I stay in this hotel 1 night, it is small hotel, good service, but bathroom is tight. If we approached there, was dark. After dinner, we was walking to Zocalo and we are looking for sisal rope hammock. In first shop had one, but offered price was too high for us 1800 pesos and sevice didn´t accept our price. It... The breakfast alone made this a great stay. Enjoyed the rooftop table & chairs for a wine get together with some of our group. The courtyard pool downstairs was nice but it would help to have a bar. The OXXO store was just down the street though to go pick up beers. Short walk to the zocalo. Room was fine... More

This hotel was once a monestry, but is now an attractive hotel with character in the centre of the town. The room are situated surrounding a courtyard, what makes that there is no noise from the busy centre. The rooms are authentic, and large. The bathroom is a little bit small. On top of the roof there is a swimmingpool... More

We spent 3 nights at the Colonial Hotel. The hotel is nothing of special and I don't think it deserves the four stars it has got but it has a fantastic location being in a central position very closed to the "Plaza Grande" of Merida. In our room we had the air conditioning and a Tv with quite a lot... More

Very well located, two, blocks from plaza grande. Front Desk staff spoke no English but tried to be helpful. Indoor pool with no roof. A nice touch! Hotel had character. Rooms were basic but adequate. Breakfast buffet at 75 pesos was good value and food was plentiful. More

At only 5 minutes walk from the main plaza, this location is excellent, however the rooms don't really live up to standard. The room we stayed in had no natural light - the only window was into the corridor - so it already felt quite dark and dingy. But then we saw the bathroom - ants crawling over the floor,... More

We are here again, our fourth year, and it's better than ever. The wonderful charm of Mexico is still at the Hotel Colonial: the architecture, the traditional decorations and most importantly, the friendly, helpful Yucatecan staff . . . and you are still in the middle of everything, the resturants, the entertainment, the shops, only two blocks from the Grand... Stayed here for three nights at the end of a small group tour of Mexico. The hotel is located at the junction of two busy streets and within a couple of blocks of the Zocalo and lots of reasonably priced restaurants - including one literally across the road from the main entrance. Several local bars have a 5-7 happy hour.... More

The hotel was an excellent budget choice. Great location, quiet, clean rooms. Nothing plush about it but nor is the price. The only thing i would say is that the photos make it look "shinier" and newer than it is. The photos are all genuine but just not as "shiney" as advertised. The pool is there but is tiny and... This hotel was a major disappointment. The only reason it doesn't get a one star is because the facilities are decent. Our room reeked of mustiness, another friend's room stank of cigarette smoke. We needed to keep the air conditioner on all night so the smell didn't overpower us! You cannot sleep as both staff and guests are yelling, whistling... More
