After reading so many negative reviews, I'd never think people were talking about the same hotel! My husband and made a quick stop in Merida on our honeymoon,we planned to stay two days, but ended up staying a whole week. The staff was unbelievably helpful and gave us info and directions on how and when to get to all the... More

We had travelled from Campeche, and had booked another hotel which was terrible. We put the luggage back in the car and came across the Gran Real. The staff were really helpful and we were made to feel at home, from the first minute. The whole ambiance was just what we needed. The place is relaxed and the colonial feel... More

While we were outside the hotel to visit the area, someone came into our room and cracked our luggage and stole some money which was inside... The room was tidy and cleaned up. There was no trace of breaking in... The burglar had the key of the room... No investigation nor apologize from the hotel. UNACCEPTABLE for a ***** starred... More

We did a roundtrip through Yucatan a booked this hotel for 2 nights. The Lobby is nice looking in a colonial style. The room was okay for this short stay, but had a very old and small bathroom. There was only mexican TV and slow internet. The hotel is only a 3 minutes walk from the Plaza where you can... More

Nice location, very close to center of Merida, with parking and helpful personnel. The room was clean and the breakfast was o.k. BUT there was no fridge in the rooms and this is very important especially as when you return to your room after a hot day, you need a cold class of water and you cannot have it. You... More

The courtyard on arrival looks nice but nothing else beyond this was nice in any way at all. We got a bad vibe from this hotel from the word go and disliked it in every way. Being asked to confirm that yes we definitely did want the double bed we had booked and not 2 singles gave the impression that... More

Nice rooms, not refreshingly lovely but comfortable, neat and clean. Very few English channels on tv and not a single English news channel. Very pretty building with lush quartyards and a great pool area. Decent breakfasts and eager staff. Very good location just a few blocks from the main plaza.

This hotel was our base of operations for three nights while we visited numerous Mayan sites in the area as well as the brand new Gran Museo del Mundo Maya in Merida itself. We were in a large comfortable room on the fifth floor, so the elevator was a welcome sight after a day of climbing pyramids. The walls are... More

this is by no means a 5 star hotel as it is advertised. the lobby - reception areas are kind of nice because of the architecture but the rooms in themselves are not great. walls are very thin so it's hard to get good sleep when you hear the conversation or tv in the room next door and so on.... This hotel is spacious and nicely presented inside. From the street, it doesn't look much but it is what is inside that counts. It is situated on a corner so it was easy to use the grid street system to venture out and a nice distance of 2-3 blocks for exercise to get to the main square and other attractions.... More
