It was cheap and available. Location not so great, it is just a touch farther then I'd prefer from the center. Totally ascetic and I quite a bit rundown. It actually feels like you are staying in private home - lady owner uses all the same facilities as you are. No service per se, but you should not expect any... More

I stayed at El Hostalito in August of 2012 and was not impressed. The best thing about it is the location and the fact that the dorm room has NO bunk beds! However, I'm not sure the blankets were changed after each visitor and I was only given one sheet to use (which I placed over the fleece-covered pillow that... More

I stayed here a few nights and, for the price it was great. The bed was a bit noisy and uncomfortable and the receptionist knew absolutely nothing about San Cristobal or Mexico in general but apart from that the place is great. Good location, clean, quietish and has a nice patio with hammocks. Also has a computer with free to... More

My wife and I had a great stay at El Hostilito. We stayed in a private room. The only areas that let it down a bit were: - bathrooms a little moldy and once there was no toilet paper left. - You can hear the noise of others coming up the stairs and in the landing outside the rooms. -... More

The rooms are bare yet comfortable, the kitchen is completely decked out, the net is fast, the courtyard is a good place to meet other travelers but the service is the best you could ask for. My girlfriend and I left early one morning for Palenque, half way there we noticed that we had forgotten our camera bag back in... More

El Hostalito is everything you could want from a hostel - a fantastic kitchen, a range of rooms and enough shared bathrooms so you never have to wait, brilliant selection of games/books, free internet, a cosy lounge with fireplace and sofas and a unique selling point - the bikes! Unfortunately, we only had one night in San Cristobal, but we... More

Amazing place! Cozy and excellent atmosphere. It really makes you feel like being on a family home. Clean and funny place, with good ambient and good food. The owner (Joaquin) is really a friendly and excellent guy. Very good quality/price relation! Definitively my favorite place in San Cristobal! A must see. You must go there! Beautiful place!!
