I have traveled extensively in the past few years and must say, the Hippodrome is the worst hotel I've ever stayed in. Problems included: the hallways are almost pitch black and it feels like you are walking through a dungeon; the rooms are not clean; the drain in my shower (the bathrooms actually LOOK nice) was clogged and I flooded... I had managed to bag one of the 'Barack Obama Special Rates' on expedia so my review is likely a bit biased by the unbelievable value of the rate we booked. The hotel is located in a nice area of Mexico City. Like all big cities some parts of Mexico can be intimidating but in my experience Condesa is a... More

Before staying at the Hippodrome Hotel I did a search on tripadvisor.com and found lots of not so great reviews about the hotel. A friend had booked the hotel so i decided to stay and not change the booking but i soon found that all what was said here was true! For the 2 days we were there we had... More

The Hippodrome Hotel is a nice small boutique hotel. The room is spacious and clean and trendy, but the bathroom is a little small. No air conditioning, but did not needed. My only concern was that at check-in they did not explain the features of the room, I had to find everything on my own. The surrounding area was great... More

First, as a previous reviewer indicated, I stayed here on the hard to believe cheap rate that they offered for a short time. It was worth that price but I would never pay the full price--too many better hotels in Mexico City for the same price or less. I am writing this while at the hotel. My main complaint is... More

Great location, walking distance to parks, cafes and shopping. This is a beautiful hotel with friendly staff and nice touches. However, there are many things that I was unhappy with. There is no air-conditioning or ceiling fans in the rooms, neither are there screens on the windows. So, the first day we left our windows open to get some air... More

I usually stay at the Condesa or Habita when in DF, but this time around I tried the Hippodrome as a result of what is far and away the best hotel deal I've ever seen -- which I say as a former professional hotel reviewer who's reviewed boutique hotels throughout 20 countries: a "Barack Obama Stimulus Special" rate of $17.50/night,... Typical boutique hotel. Trying just a little too hard. No soft furnishings or floor treatments, so all noise from all communal areas and particularly the bar on a Thursday through Saturday night (typically until around 5am) is with you in your room. All my colleagues checked out after one night. Wireless internet didn't work. No hot water. More

I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone traveling to the Mexico City area. The surrounding neighborhood of La Condesa is beautiful, safe, and filled with vibrant restaurants and shops. The 8 rooms in the hotel are modern, clean, and spacious. The hotel has a great restaurant/bar in the lobby level, and all guests have access to a beautiful gym... More

This hotel is situated in a great location in Mexico City and could be so much more! My first impressions were fabulous but the lack of cold or hot water for the majority of my 1 week stay was incredibly frustrating. The problems with ventilation and mosquitoes you could vaguely deal with (although not really for the price you pay)... More
