As we were doing a Scottish Island trip including Rum, we phoned ahead to try to book "hostel accommodation" at about £8-£19 per person per night as advertisied on Kinloch Castle Website, but told these beds were "full" so was offered The Oak Room at £50 per night. In the days of the Bulloughs Kinloch Castle, for a short spell each year, came alive. My husband & I ,both retired,57 & 61,stayed in a dorm,took breakfast & Evening meals in the Bistro,with wine no less!!!Variety,quality & presentation of meals would be a credit to a 4 star hotel restaurant.Well done to the South African chef who was there at the time & his team.Definitely 5 star hostelling!! We were here for four days in the school half term with two primary age kids. Staying in the William Bass room we found the hostel/ castle a perfect base for a relaxing break. Stayed for the week-end with friends at kinloch castle hotel and absolutely loved it despite the wet ,wet ,wet, weather . An upmarket hostel experience. My son, dad and I had a 4 bedded room to ourselves and had a great few days. The bedrooms are basic bunk rooms, some of the bathrooms have large old interesting baths.
