Stayed a couple of times on business. Smashing hotel, great views, brilliant breakfast. Friendly welcome, both on two and four legs. Even though I was there on a business trip, I'd part with my own hard-earned cash to stay for a break.

Stayed here for one night on route to Thurso. My wife and I were the only guests staying in the hotel. It was very cold in the lounge but Heather, the owner powered up a peat-fuelled open fire which soon warmed the room up. She told us to treat the place like it was our own and was very jolly....

The welcome and hospitality was cheerful, but my room smelled of cigarettes. The breakfasts were great, but the evening meals were very lacklustre. On the plus side the hotel is in a convenient and beautiful location.

We did not stay at the hotel but stopped off for an evening meal, we were a bit early so we sat in the lounge where the fire was stoked up for us. Heather was very cheerful and we felt very much at home. We both opted for haddock which was locally caught, our meals were very well presented, very...

I have stayed here on several occasions in recent years, while on trout fishing and hill-walking expeditions in the north of Scotland. The main attractions for me are the beautiful peace and quiet which I enjoy so much. Also, and very importantly, the food. The dining here is simply splendid. I had a lobster dinner here which beat anything I've...

I was welcomed by Heather the proprietor and given a tour of the hotel before being shown to my room which was to be home for 3 days, I only wish it could have been...

Stop there as a last resort in the evening. The owner was lovley the room was clean and fresh the bathroom was new and the food was very very good. Yes the hotel is tired looking but look beyond that and you will find value for money. If you are in the area stop the night, we would have stayed...

I stayed here for 2 nights in late May. This honest hotel was good value for money, providing free wifi, a large meal and a drink for a decent price. The staff were all friendly and very helpful. It isn't a 5 star hotel, but it doesn't pretend to be one.

Stopped here for lunch and had the worst value meal I've had in Britain. A toasted sandwich cost £6.50 and consisted of two thin bits of frozen sliced bread and some orange processed cheese. A pot of tea for two, made from one teabag, cost £4. The bar was tatty and rather dirty looking. On the plus side, the landlady...
