We needed a base near Castle Caereinion to participate in the Welsh National Motorcycle Rally. The Lion proved perfect. Welcoming and comfortable, the food was excellent, the rooms clean and well appointed, we couldn't have asked for more. Thank you - and the price was very reasonable too!

A great hotel in the pretty village of Berriew. It's an excellent base to explore mid wales including powis castle and montgomery canal. The hotel is clean and comfy, you get a warm welcome. Good food and drink is served including real ale!

Booked in for an early start for business in Welshpool following day.The Lion is a small but charming very old coach house type hotel, with authentic old beams and features. The room was reasonably well appointed and warm. The dressing table was very small and the only surface available to do some paperwork, just about managed! The bathroom was also warm and... More

Booked here for our Anniversary dinner when couldn't get in at our first choice and so very glad that we did. Lovely cosy traditional pub with a pretty restaurant - so nice to see crisp white table linen and proper table settings. We enjoyed an excellent 4 course meal at a very reasonable cost, and the service was friendly and... More

In Wales for a football groundhop and booked into the Lion, good choice as it turned out. Lovely cosy room, very friendly staff and excellent food. Good location with a nearby shop for papers and groceries, Limited parking but we were lucky in getting a space and parking also available in the village street if needed.

On a journey from Lancashire to South Wales Mr H and I turned to Trip Advisor for suggestions where to find a pleasant Sunday lunch. Time was running out so when we finally opted for the Lion we were delighted to find an old pub/restaurant in a lovely village just off the A483 south of Welshpool. We knew we were... More

Whilst staying at Penllwyn Lodges we found the local hotel, The Lion Hotel in Berriew, the staff were very welcoming and friendly. We found something on the menu for all our tastes, we liked the fact we stayed in the lounge until the meal was ready, as soon as we were seated our food arrived. Hot plates, hot food which... More
