We went as two family’s, for our 20 year wedding anniversary, we honeymooned there in 2004 and decided to take kids back and renew our vows with a double wedding, everything was perfect, nothing was a problem, the meal , location and staff were top notch, definitely not waiting that long to go back again

Loved it, such a great resort, there was something for everyone. Kids were fully occupied so allowed up to sneak off to the private adults area to get a quiet drink by the pool. BTW best snorkling was right in front of the resort. Amazing holiday thanks

We were a family of 22 adults and 17 kids. We recently spent an amazing weekend at the Rarotongan! The facilities were perfect for team bonding activities in the pool; in the activities rooms; at the hut; in the sea and in restaurant. We didn't want to go out of the Rarotongan as this was the perfect place for bonding; relaxation; long walks on the white beaches; within the property; and gathering under the hut. The beds are the perfect place to end the day with much needed good rest. Highly recommend the Rarotongan and it many activities on site.

It's definitely a nice place to stay, especially if you have a family. The activities and snorkeling are awesome, and most of the staff are friendly and accommodating. Room was dated but was a real comfy bed and clean. Negatives -After waiting 30 min at the front desk after arriving from airport, they could not find our booking we had to wait over two hours before we could access our room as it was not ready ie pretty much were not expecting us. I was quite mad but bit my tongue. Also make sure you have got alot of spending money to buy food and drinks as everything is quite expensive. I would be 50/50 on deciding to come back to the resort.

Terrible service and unprofessional staff. My husband had an anaphylactic reaction which the staff have shown zero sympathy for nor have they taken accountability. How can he react to shellfish after ordering a vegan meal if they were handling food appropriately? They clearly do not have high safety or hygiene standards and have awful customer service. Definitely would not return and would not recommend to anyone either!

The Rarotongan Restaurant hosted our small function of 40 adults and children. They gave us a private area and provided great food, service and activities for the children. The menu offers a good variety and caters for vegans too! Very reasonably priced children menu too. Soft drinks well priced at $6 and a fantastic cake, more than enough for everyone at just $155. Also a smaller vegan cake at $66. Plenty for the children to do, we didn't see them all day other than when they came to eat and drink. A great day out.

The resort feels like a faithful old motel from the seventies, friendly but a little run down. It’s beautifully situated on Aro'a beach, a marine sanctuary. Here, the fringing reef is more distant to the beaches, which makes this part of the lagoon ideal for kayaking and snorkelling among coral right off the beach. Children are amply catered for, with a good-sized swimming pool, water slides, a trampoline, games tables, a library of books, and a playroom with a supervised kid’s club and plenty of daily activities, toys and movies. For adults, there are plenty of kayaks available on the beach, as well as fins and masks. There’s a good-sized restaurant and bar, with a view of the waves crashing on the reef and west-facing for sunset. The complimentary breakfast is fairly basic if filling, and the dinners reasonable, but nothing special. While the coral is very close to the beach and fun for young snorkellers, if you want something more you’ll need to go out on one of the tours to see turtles and bigger fish. One fun thing is the mass of bluefin trevally and yellowstripe goatfish that linger below the seaside balcony to fight for food scraps that children throw over the rail. Our room was fairly basic with a small balcony and bathroom. But it had a comfortable big bed and a view of the lagoon which made it good enough. One problem – the TV reception was poor, with no streaming services in evidence. Staff were very friendly, courteous and helpful. I would say that as accommodation for a family with little ones in tow, the Rarotongan was more than adequate.

Terrible food and very dated resort, unfortunately really poor for the amount that you pay to stay here. Beautiful setting if only the service and restaurant would be better and the rooms updated. Wouldn’t recommend staying here. Staff are lovely though

Resort is in a wonderful location. The views are amazing. The pool is great for the kids. Breakfast is very average and not at all worth the cost so I would recommend not including it in your booking. However there are no facilities to make breakfast in your room if staying in one of the Beachside units. Also note beachside is not necessarily on the side of the beach, it could be at the back of the resort. For great views book beach front. Staff are nice enough. The decor is tiring and needs a revamp. If you look around the resort is becoming run down. We stayed 8 nights and it was fine for us. $16 to complete a wash and dry cycle. Extra for powder. Bar refused us a glass of water saying it’s not safe to drink however was deemed safe to drink in the rooms. They instead charged $6 for a 600ml bottle of water produced in Rarotonga.
