Went for a swim after arriving from Ships Cove - not a good idea!. Rained all the way and the Queen Charlotte Track was awash. However the sea was great to take the aches away. Water problems (from the storm) meant some of our party missed out on hot showers which did not go down well. Our chalet was a... More

bit of a home away from home, cosy bar and restaurant with a big fire, great unobtrusive service, nice meals and the accommodation was fine, clean and tidy and relatively spacious. And the views, and fishing ... aaah bliss

Our experience in the dining room was the highlight of our stay here. I had a risotto which was the best I have ever eaten and I have travelled in Italy. The food was exceptional and a great selection of wines to choose from. Congratulations to the chefs. The service was also outstanding. When we came of the track we... More

We attended Furneaux Lodge for a wedding in March 2013. A big thank-you to the owners/management of Furneaux- they were a delight to deal with and made the stay a very pleasant one for all involved in the wedding. We booked a chalet and shared with another couple. It was super cute from the outside, but very basic inside, I... More

After being dropped at Cook Point, a gentle start to the walk gets you to Furneaux Lodge in time for a shower, change and pre-dinner drinks. This is 'glamping'. Pros: perfect house and location, friendly backpacker staff. Cons: over-priced food and wine (but then they do have to ferry everything in). And WHY does nowhere in NZ have flyscreen on... More

This was the 1st overnight stay along our four-day Queen Charlotte Track walk. We stayed in a private chalet with one bedroom and a living room area. Pros: - Modern, clean chalet-style accommodation. - Friendly, helpful staff. - Good restaurant and bar. - The packed lunch provided for the next day's walk was plentiful and good. Cons: - Food can... Our group of 3 couples walking the Queen Charlotte Track spent the first night at Furneaux Lodge. Each couple had an excellent 2 bedroom Chalet - they were lovely and clean, well appointed, and just a stones throw from the waters edge. The evening meals were good - as was the coffee next morning. Seeing a stingray swimming around the... More

We stayed as a group during our walk on the Queen Charlotte track. The park like grounds of this lodge are excellent. It is a wonderful place to stay. The food is very good and the staff are friendly. There was confusion at breakfast where orders were misplaced and service was slow particularly when we were eager to start hiking.... More
