If you make it to Pennan you are "off piste". You will be rewarded by staying at the Pennan Inn. Its cool and quirky; a step back in time thanks to the movie Local Hero. The Pennan Inn is small and will dissapoint "drop ins" if the place is already busy. If you plan ahead you will have a great... More

Myself and my husband visited Pennan with family who were staying for the Easter weekend. Our visitors were looking forward to seeing the pub and phone box from Local Hero. However when we entered the pub at 2.30pm on Easter Sunday we were surprised at how unwelcome we were made to feel. Myself and my son 23 nieces 17 and... More

Driving coast route North from Aberdeen; on a cold, wet & dreary day there was a noticeable absence of welcoming places for Sunday lunch. Braving the steep drive into Pennan, we were greeted with a lovely spot in awful weather. One place open Pennan Inn, the bar was cosy & warm, staff welcoming - good beer & whisky. Only menu... More

The Pennan Inn is a tiny pub compared to where we come from. It is a quaint hotel with a great deal of character. The dining room is tastefully furnished, with local photos hanging on the wall. The Thai food is excellent thanks to the owners and chefs, Niki and Peter. The cosy small lounge area is a great place... More

Having discovered Pennan many years ago I am pleased to say that the hospitality and food have improved since I was there 5 years ago. It looks a wee bit modern now but it is cleaner. The food is excellent value for its price, bearing in mind that it is in the middle of nowhere.

I went with my family for a drink on a lovely summers evening. With the strains of the local hero theme tune running through my head, it would have been lovely to have been able to sit outside and watch the sunset. We were told that no alcoholic drinks were allowed outside, but offered no explanation. We also visited other... More

We stayed here in spring on a B&B basis, for an Anniversary weekend. The bedroom was very clean though small naturally, bearing in mind the overall size of the Inn. Instead of having a breakfast menu, we were just asked "what we'd like" by the owner/chef! This did not seem very professional considering the cost per person, per night. (We've... More

We ate here and had great fish and chips. Child number 2 ordered Thai green curry. It was so good we all voted to come back and have it on our second night in the area! Child no. 2 of course then had the fish and chips!

The Pennan Inn was the locale for the movie and we wanted to enjoy a stay and a meal. The Inn was fully booked for a stay but we arrived in time for lunch. We were met by a lovely Thai woman and the service and food was brilliant. We were not disappointed. When travelling the North Scottish Coast make... More
