We stopped at Tintern on a beautiful May evening to have a meal, after a wonderful day visiting one of our favourite areas. We hadn't been to the Abbey Hotel for many years, when it was called The Beaufort. Ate in the bar and both had Sirloin steaks.Excellent meal and the chips were the best I've had in ages. The location... More

This hotel overlooks Tintern Abbey. Our room was on the first floor overlooking the Abbey,it was a large room. clean and tidy with new bedding and towels every day. the food whether in the bar or resteraunt was of excellent quality and value for money. Unfortunately the... More

Our visit was magical. Having booked on line at a bargain price my husband and I were astonished to be allocated the best room in the house with magnificent views of the abbey, a four poster bed and a double sized bath! The hotel was full of old fashioned character and charm, the only shortcomings were that the dinner menu... More

The setting is brilliant, the staff are friendly and helpful. I was in a room up the back and out of the way. It was a bit dated but fine for a night. The plumbing creaked a bit when running the tap and flushing the toilet. Breakfast was good. More

Room was bland, stayed 3 nights, each day was interesting while we guessed what next could go wrong! Run out of certain main food courses, every day wifi was broken, makeup of bedroom was poor like missing towels, bedsheets not changed, noisey neighbours, noisy floorboards, dinning room always cold, over charged when checking out, always looking for staff, bathroom was... If I could give this hotel a thousand stars I would they are absolutely amazing, my wife and I were married on the 18th February this year and had our wedding breakfast and evening reception at the Abbey Hotel, the staff and especially Manny the manager at the hotel. We started organising our wedding around a year before hand and... More

We stayed here as a group over a weekend during one of Chepstow's race meetings. From the start we were made to feel very welcome, including one of the staff offering to drive us around when we could not get a taxi on race day. The bar and restuarant are small but cosy and they do have local (Wye Valley)... More

Pros - Location, Nice staff, good breakfast, Cons - Decor, beds, Location cannot be beaten great views of the Abbey.. The hotel is long overdue for a make over inside is shabby with wallpaper peeling everywhere, woodwok needs repainting, shower room grubby.. Outside the windows are rotting and paint peeling the building looks sad - it's a listed building that... More

My husband and I went to the Abbey for Valentines, we have been around 10 times since 1994 and to be honest we can't get enough of the fantastic location and the fabulous hotel and staff. The rooms have been spruced up a bit, but we don't actually worry about that, it gives the hotel the great character it has.... More

We had our wedding in the Abbey hotel in Novemeber, and have to say, it was extremely good value for money. The hotel staff genuinly could not do enough for us, and were nothing but helpful every step of the way. The hotel is beautifully elegant, well kept and clean. We were welcomed in our honeymoon suite with a chilled... More
