Very lengthy journey from Bristol to Glasgow, and we decided we couldnt face more motorway food, so we took a punt and headed for ullswater, only 6 miles off the M6. We looked at the pub across the road which looked fine but opted instead for the pooley bridge inn as it looked a nicer place. The food was fantastic.... More

My wife and I stayed here for 2 nights for a quiet break. We stayed in room 6 which was very clean and tidy with a 4 poster bed. The service we received throughout the stay was always very friendly and were always met with a smile. The downstairs pub is nice and comfy with plenty of places to sit... More

After a day on the Lake nipped in here for a pint . The lager was flat (Lakeland lager) and the cider even flatter. On mentioning it the lady responded by saying she'd changed the gas and didn't know what the problem was ..... then walked off. The Barnsley chops did however smell lovely

We were staying just up the road over Easter and had 2 meals in this pub. Very enjoyable, relaxing and good value for money. My husband tried the 2 veggie options on the menu and said both very enjoyable. I had gammon and chips and broad beans, and fillets of seabass with fresh veg - the seabass was very tasty... More

Wonderful pub, welcoming staff and friendly atmosphere. Best fish cakes I have ever had and the best roast turkey, beef and lamb roast on Easter Sunday, Could not fault the service or the quality cuisine. Ten out of ten. We will be back!

Popped in for a drink after a long walk - enjoyed the open fires and the comfy sofas. Menu looked good and average prices although didn't stay for food, plenty of other people eating though and meal sizes looked huge. Good range of beers and prices very reasonable.

The staff were welcoming and friendly The rooms were lovely and clean and we were given a family room so we had plenty of room for the 2 of us plus the dog. An ideal location for walking and seeing the lakes. We eat at the Inn both nights and tasted 4 different main courses, all were well presented and... More

We have always made it our custom to visit the Pooley Bridge Inn after visiting the Ullswater area. The management and staff have changed but the service and friendliness of the staff and quality of food haven't. We were only there for an hour or so so cannot comment on the hotel side of things but found our visit very... More

We ate here at Christmas, used to be that you had to queue for a table even on a Monday evening and we used to drive for miles for the fabulous menu but since it changed hands it's just like everywhere else. What a pity. To be honest, our dinner on Christmas Eve wasn't quite average.
